Unable to copy mpg file to PC

I have been following this thread with interest. I do not have an answer to your problem but I have converted an HD recording (3.22 GB) to .mpg using the Webif and it took approximately 15 minutes to complete.
I am watching the result via Scart connection (RGB) and it it is playing perfectly.

The mpg is still on the Humax?

I can watch the extracted mpg on the Humax but after it is downloaded to my desktop it is not playable. The corresponding ts file is playable with at least 3 players on the PC.

EDIT: I have not yet had time to save a STDdef file and try extracting and downloading.

Yes it is. I was really pointing out that the Wiki might need updating, with a caveat.

I just mpg'd a decrypted HiDef ts to test this, I didn't transfer the files to PC but accessed them from the PC as a network mount (same effect).

VLC played the ts (with break up, I don't think my processor is up to it), but wouldn't have anything to do with the mpg. The mpg would however play on the Humax.

Neither would import into Serif MoviePlus, "no media streams found", but I'm not sure whether X5 is HiDef compatible.

I have plugged the USB HDD into my Linux Netbook but it will not play. Incorrect codecs.
I do not have a Windows PC. I will have access to one on Christmas Eve but that may be a bit too late for you.

Anything interesting here?

Exactly the same result as I get. (except with Serif MoviePlus which I don't use)

The ts files play correctly with VLC when downloaded. They also play as a network mount.

You say you have been able to extract download and play a StdDef file though?

I have had the same - header missing. Posted earlier in the thread I think.

EDIT: Not posted earlier.

My standard process for knocking out a DVD copy of something for somebody is to record StDef, convert to mpg, then import it into MoviePlus for authoring. Alternatively (if it's something already broadcast) I grab the iPlayer mp4 and import that.

I've tried something else: Windows Live Movie Maker. It will import the decrypted HiDef ts, but not the mpg.

As it happens I need to burn a DVD with some iPad movie footage. WLMM will import the .mov file, but again not SMP X5. I guess that confirms I will have to upgrade SMP for HiDef.

I will have to send the 15.5gb .ts files as decrypted HDef files for playing on a PC with VLC. (unless a certain young man offered to burn some DVDs must be in Mandarin tho ;))

I can use my router USB drive to play the 15.5gb .ts files via the Panny TV Media Server. Previously I had used PS3 Media Server to stream from my laptop which ties up the laptop and of course it must be on. One less program I need to have installed :)

Many thanks for the input.
