Viewing recordings via SMB using VLC

I am trying to view recordings via SMB using VLC on my FireTV Stick. However, I am being asked to enter a username and password. I thought that it was humax and 0000 but that is not the case. I don’t recall changing the details in the past. I have the beta version of Samba 3 installed. Help please.

According to xyz321's post #1 on the samba 3 beta thread, the username is root with no (empty) password.
