Watching my Humax on upstairs TV

I don't think my solution will suit you, as nas boxe are stupid expensive but here goes anyway.

I suck off 😜 my humax recordings to my pc. I then use vsdc to strip out the ads and blur any logos. I often convert the output to a smaller size with handbrake. Copy the result to a shared disc on my NAS whereupon it can be seen anywhere on my network via any dlna player - vlc works but so would jellyfin.

Not as time consuming or onerous as it sounds, one you're used to the wokflow.
I just use detectads on the humax and can view anywhere on my network with no data moving or manual work required, you appear to be creating work for yourself

@zeltus Are you still using a FoxSat as in your first post a few years ago?

I am. The Foxsat is working well for me. But I can't see DetectAds for it. Is it necessary to manually add it.

My workflow sounds onerous, but VSDC is pretty much automated and handbrake is easy to batch process. I really don't want to play .ts files, I prefer .mp4 - they seem to stream better in my imagination.

Thanks Zeltus. I have done something similar over the years as my media-hoarding appetite exceeded my 320GB Humax hard drive. I decrypt the (mainly film) files and stored them initially on a NAS (until the mirror drive failed) and latterly in the MS Office OneDrive (1 TB per 6 family subscription users, at least until recently when the sub changed to 2TB between the 6). This is a fine solution for me but not spouse-approval ready.
I have just bought a 1TB T2-HDR for my second box, so that will be able to store some of my film archive now as well as be a Humax client to the primary.
As I already have my primary 500GB T2-HDR, I can and do use detectads.
Custom Firmware all the way - so thanks again to the authors / maintainers! 👍

I hadn't heard of VSDC before, but will bookmark it as a future investigation if I need to edit any video, thank you. I have used Handbrake and keep it installed.

I started off with the Foxsat many years ago, when I lived in a terrestrial signal dead zone. I still fondly remember the 2-pane file management - is that on T2-HDR too - have I missed something all these years?!

A couple of questions
Is the ad removal and logo blurring a manual process or can VSDC do it an automated way?
What app does your NAS run to serve up the DLNA solution.

From a desktop? Access by FTP (use the CF betaftpd package, with the native FTP turned off in Settings), and then you can use any file manager* to do as you like, or a dedicated FTP GUI front-end.

* Modern desktop file managers can access network drives by a variety of methods, but with Windows' aversion to SMB1, FTP is easier.

No, it was the built in firmware one that comes up on the TV screen using the remote.
This is testing my memory but -> Media, then pressing one of the coloured buttons changed it to a split view.
When I need to rearrange files now, I use copy + paste from the WebIf -> Browse so as to maintain the sidecar files properly, or Filezilla from the desktop, exactly as you suggested
