Youtube-dl and qtube

Hi, I have installed this plugin using the command line method, and configured it. I am trying to download a ffilm from BBC iPlayer using the qtube GUI set up, I use the -F option to get an idea of best quality version, how do I proceed once the list of what is available in made?, in other words how to download the version that is best?.

I have installed this plugin using the command line method
Why make things hard for yourself? What's wrong with WebIF >> Package Management >> Available?

I use the -F option to get an idea of best quality version, how do I proceed once the list of what is available in made?
Forums >> HD/HDR-FOX T2 Customised Firmware >> Index of Package Primary Topics >> youtube-dl >> Black Hole's Summary Guide (linked from post 1)

(Teaching a man to fish for himself)

You'll need the same information to use the qtube package, but the GUI front end it provides makes using youtube-dl easier.

Obviously what BH said, but otherwise use -f ... to select a format (or video_format+audio_format) from those listed and -o ... to specify the output filename template (RTFM as linked from BH's post for details).

Thank you, I have read these pages, and very useful they are,u problem is I keep getting timeout errors, eg error 145?, I have very fast broadband, any ideas?.

Does anybody have any suggestions, as I am unable to download any programmes from either You Tube or BBC iplayer due to timed out errors (no. 145). Is this the limitation of this plugin, another dead end?. Please if you have any ideas I would be grateful.

Paste the actual messages from qtube.log, or from running youtube-dl with the -v option from the command line, please.

I have Youtube-dl on my Linux laptop and downloads are superb and very fast even for 4.5G files! so the problem is possibly to do with the FOX-T2 processing?

Can I just say that I find the overall tone of the responses to my query quite unnecessarily cryptic with an air of superiority mixed in.
I am trying to figure out why downloads of programmes on the T2 are plagued by timeout errors, and asking questions, what I am getting are typical responses from members with superior knowledge on this subject but who somehow feel unable to share this, in a forum.
Stop with all the bullxxxx cryptic answers, if you feel unable to help then don't respond at all, otherwise try to offer realistic answers, that don't require decoding.

What's cryptic about a demonstration that it works?

Sorry, but it's your posts which are cryptic. You have already been asked for a copy of the log, without which there is nothing to be said.

WebIF qtube works ok for me.
Eg it worked for https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/m0019tr5/bluey-series-2-1-dance-mode
So it's not an issue with the CF.
Maybe it's something local to your network?
Eg do you have any special firewall rules or restrictions set up for your Humax?
Or try removing, then installing the software again to see if it helps.
There's not much to go on, so those are simply guesses.

The mystery code 145 means nothing to me, nor to those with superior knowledge, and not even to the big G. That's why

Quite. The OP has a track record of liking to complicate things, admits not reading anything and expecting to have everything handed to him/her on a plate, and won't even provide hard data when requested – I suspect because it would reveal some stupidity. Either that or he/she is some kind of troll trying to dis the CF in search hits. If I seem off-hand, that's why.

I can see that paranoia is setting in. Troll indeed!, you really should listen to yourself, for an apparently intelligent person you come across as ridiculous, ' a track record...' ' teach to fish', these are comments for children and morons!.
So please read my original post on this subject, and then tell me if it has been answered, in anyway other than making silly inappropriate comments. As I said previously, if you like to help me then do so in a pleasant and useful way, no need for comments about fishing and the like, although I have said before I am no expert in this area, don't for a second assume that you are dealing with a simpleton!.
So please lets be civil here in this forum.
I will post log details when I get a chance, and if you care to comment then do so as I have indicated if not, then okay.

I see you've been blackholed. The guy is what others would call a moron, with some technical knowledge. Approach with care

Hey, just to let everyone know that I have succeeded in resolving this problem now and all is working well. thanks to all who offered useful suggestions.
For those who found it difficult to be civil, well good luck to you.
