Will this release be required in order to be able to access the reinstated Internet Radio on the Portal?
I ask because I've gone back to 1.02.20 because we don't like the 1.02.28 feature whereby it pops an icon up on the screen when you press a device button on the remote (is there any way to...
XBMC is a media player (client) not a server. See the XBMC Wiki.
There are DLNA servers available for Mac. Having tried most of the ones that Google throws up, I use Twonky. It's not free, but it's not that costly and it does at least work, which none of the free ones I tried did (though...
You can easily format an external drive as Fat32 on an iMac - it's on the drop-down format options list in Disk Utility (it may just appear as "FAT"). In fact IIRC the default format for an external device is Fat32. You can then plug that drive in to the Humax and copy recordings to it. Only...
One minor issue with the scheduled reminder solution is that it seems to set the favourite channels back to the default "TV" list. It's a bit tedious having to change it back every evening when SWMBO asks where all those funny channels in the EPG have come from, and where have the HD channels...
I've just checked and the confirmation dialogue box that pops up when you click on the restore option does indeed say that the existing schedule will be deleted:
I believe that is correct. That's probably why a few of the schedule entries weren't duplicated, but I didn't check thoroughly to...
Yikes, not here thank you very much! I've got line-of-sight to two different main transmitters and I have to scan manually to get the right muxes tuned in.
Interesting idea. Any idea where they might reside?
Another way to do it would be to buy one of the remotes which doesn't trigger the...
Sorry if this is a known issue but I couldn't find any reference to it by searching.
I recently installed the custom firmware, mainly in order to be able to use the tool which disables automatic upgrades. Partly this was to avoid the risk of unwanted retunes, but also it was because we don't...
I've been trying to format an 8GB microSD card in order to copy HD recordings off the HDR via a USB card adaptor. I managed to format it as EXT3 in Ubuntu but when I put it in the Humax it reported it as being 500GB capacity with 0GB free :disagree:. So I asked the Humax to format it instead...
I use Toast (currently on version 10) and it is much easier - and more flexible - than coaxing stuff through the various iLife video applications. You can usually find a genuine, sealed, boxed copy on eBay for less than Roxio want to charge you through their web site.
Be aware that some...
EyeTV supports more than just the Elgato tuners, see http://www.elgato.com/elgato/int/mainmenu/products/software/EyeTV-3/product3.en.html. The list seems to suggest that they do support some HD tuners but I haven't inestigated to see if any of them are DVB-T2.
I've had EyeTV and an Elgato...
Sony TVs can't handle MPEG Transport Stream (.ts) files, which is what the HDR stores and streams, via DLNA. Transport Stream is part of the MPEG2 standard, same as is Program Stream which is what is used in .mpg files. My understanding is that the compressed video data is the same in .ts and...
The FTP function on the Humax is a server, not a client, so it won't find your NAS that way. As Chris says, enable DLNA on the NAS and the Humax should see it. You don't have to enable DLNA on the Humax, again that's a server function. The Humax has had DLNA client functionality from day one.
Not in my experience: I actually used to leave it on "Multi-channel" deliberately, so that I could adjust the TV volume to match that, then use the Humax volume control to limit the volume of SD broadcasts. It might have changed with the latest update, I switched to "Stereo" when that came out.
You can't use the DLNA server for backup, it only does streaming.
For backup you can use the FTP server (which was available in the previous firmware version). The backed-up files won't be viewable on the PC as they are encrypted on the HDR's hard disc, but they can be FTPed back to the same...
It was on by default after I upgraded my box. VLC on my iMac sees it OK. Streaming seems a bit variable. Worked fine Monday night; tried again last night and it was dire, huge pauses.
Yes, it was one of the first things I checked when I installed the upgrade last night. I found no significant difference in audio volume between the SD and HD versions of BBC One, STV and Channel 4. That was having switched the digital audio output to "stereo" so that the HD audio volume was...
Hmm, haven't seen the broken recording icon when this happens. It was recording two programmes at the same time, and we were chase playing the first one to have started recording. The second one being recorded had followed immediately after an earlier programme's recording had finished, so it...
We quite often watch programmes in chase play, ie by locating the recording in the Media list and selecting "play from start". One advantage of this is that we can skip the ad breaks on commercial channels. Depending on how far behind live we start watching, we often end up catching up with the...
