Thanks very much for that BH.
I will see if the router can be set up as you advise.
I'm sure you are right about the IP address assignments as this trouble seems to have started after I had help setting up the range extender which involved another laptop being admitted to the router and the...
Sorry to raise this again but my Hummy has started crashing on startup, and I'm certainly not sure why.
I still have the WD Mycloud NAS and I'm using a Netgear DG834 PN wireless router. I recently installed a Netgear EX 2700 range extender.
Looking into my Hummy settings on the DNLA Server...
Thank you MeT and BH too
I hope I did not come over as blaming this forum for my inability. Not intended. I think you guys have done a fantastic job of making this stuff available to folks like me.
My problem is a reluctance to experiment too much as I know mistakes can get one...
OK Folks, I'm struggling here to find out how to do this.
Equipment: HDR-Fox T2 with CF 1.03.12 Mod 3.00 + 500GB external HDD - HDR formatted (Ext3?)
Win7 Pro Laptop, Ethernet connected to HDR
I can decrypt HD files on my internal HDD through the Browse function of CF
I can create new folders...
I used to be able to watch the TV without turning on the Humax. (Not sure if this was changed by installing the CF. May have been so with default firmware). I thought that when turned off, the Humax just passed through the aerial signal.
Now, we get a "No Signal" display when selecting BBC1...
Thanks Guys.
I had to turn on "show development and advanced packages in the Settings Advanced screen to find it.
................... and then find my NAS IP address as it had changed from the shortcut originally installed. Found it in my router.
As some will know, I am a new user and have little experience of running the CF programs.
I got my HDR-Fox T2 this month from Humax-Direct to replace the one died after Christmas.
I have installed the CF (1.03.12 mod 3.00) and Web-If programs and activated "auto-unprotect", "disable-dso" and...
WELL!!
That worked
Thank you Monty's Twin :)
....... and I wonder if there's something else I missed - possibly earlier.
When the unallocated HDD was plugged into the HDR and I used Menu / Settings / System / Data Storage / Storage: to find it.
Again it appeared only to show the...
I cannot believe how difficult this is proving for me.
I powered up my old XP desktop PC - what a noise it makes!! Connected the HDD and in Explorer right clicked and selected Format. Would only give me NTFS or exFAT.
So I opened up cmd prompt and ran format /FS:FAT32 X: /Q Had to force...
Now I remember that when I first used Disk Management intending to delete the partitions, it told me I should delete the "volume". This confused me so I used Diskpart command line to delete the partitions. Mistake I think.
I look at the disk now using Diskpart / List volume and it shows me...
Right..........................
I created a new volume and formatted the disk OK on my laptop (Win7 Pro) using disk manager. It was a quick format.
Plugged into my HDR-Fox and it is picked up, so showing a group of HDD / USB / Network to read from.
I exit that and go to Settings / System /...
I have done 1. with the help of MS advice how to use disk partition command.
However, Humax does not see the HDD when hooked up.
Have I screwed up my HDD because the partitions were volumes instead?
Or maybe should I create 1 partition now using disk partition on the PC?
Thanks for all...
OMG!!
I'm following the Wiki instructions for installing the WebIf and I see an Error Message advice at the bottom says - quote:
"If a suitably formatted USB disk is not detected on the HD-Fox T2 during installation of the Full Web Interface, then an error screen will be displayed"...
1. My PC cmd window does not recognise the TELNET command. I'm running Win 7 not any Linux.
2 I have installed PuTTY and run it according to instructions on here and get to here:
What next?
My HDR-Fox T2 died. Motherboard failure presumably because nothing worked when switched on.
I got an A1 replacement from Humax Direct and have now updated the firmware to CF version 3.00 for firmware version 1.03.12
My question concerns using the HDD from the old Fox for additional storage...
