Thanks Damian. Watching recordings on my iPad is just part of what I'm looking to do. I also (mainly) want to browse the recordings from the iPad and just play/pause/skip them on the TV or hi-fi (ie effectively using the iPad as a remote control).
Many thanks Brian. I've been considering going down that route, but before I do I'm keen to explore the third-party app options first. Presumably it's not as scary as it sounds? ;¬)

Hi all, what would you recommend as the best app to use to browse my Humax box from my iPad so I can play video recordings on the TV or, of more interest, radio recordings via my hi-fi (which is already connected up to the Humax)?
I've searched the archives and the web but I can't seem to find...
Hi. I'm definitely going to look into the custom firmware but, meanwhile, copying and pasting the location into VLC works a treat.
Thanks for all your help.
Thanks Black Hole - sounds a bit scary to me! That may be the only option, however, but before I go down that route does anyone know of any alternatives to VLC and XNBC that I might try?
Hi all, I'm using VLC to watch content on my HDR-FOX T2 and once connected to the box via View > Playlist > Local Network > Universal Plug'n'Play, my recordings play brilliantly. The problem is the time it takes for VLC to find my Hummy - it catalogues my Sonos first, then the laptop, and it...
Hi all, still having some issues with this - it's hit and miss as to how long VLC takes to find my Humax. Sometimes it appears right away underneath my Sonos in the list of devices, but most of the time it seems to be doing a complete (ie 1 hour's-worth) catalogue of the Sonos before I can...
Thanks fenlander - I followed your instructions but the Humax isn't listed there (only my Sonos kit). Strange, as I can see the Humax via HBMC and also under Network in Windows...
Hi all, I'm able to stream content from my HDR-FOX T2 using XBMC, but I'm not too keen on that application. Instead I've installed VLC 2.0, however I can't get it to "see" the Humax on the network, nor can I find online anywhere a guide for how to connect it.
Any help gratefully received.

Hello, I'm new here - I'm an ex-Toppy user and just took delivery of my HDR-Fox T2 at the weekend and the set-up went extremely smooth.
I also bought the Humax wif-fi dongle, but was concerned that the location of the Humax is too far from the wi-fi router and would result in poor response...
