I'm on mountain lion and cant connect to my humax by connecting to server then smb:<ipaddress>.
Always get a connection failed message - The version of the server you are trying to connect to is not supported.
I can see it in network but I get the same message when I try to browse it.
It works...
The Humax definately CAN play mkv files, I've played some myself.
As someone mentioned above though I think it depends on the format of the contents of the mkv.
I'll try and find the one that worked for me when I get home tomorrow and run it through mkvinfo
I did a bit of TCL at uni (that sounds a bit wrong!) I might try and brush up on it it I get some time.
I'll try building a pure html page and see how that goes.
I know dreamweaver has an option to change newlines from /r/n to just /n I'll try that too.
Thanks
So what is jim exactly? a server side language?
I'm actually a PHP developer and know my way around html, javascript and css too but I haven't come across jim before.
I don't have any code at the mo, I was just testing to see what could be done.
The only thing I changed in the index page was...
Last night I thought I'd have a quick play with the custom portal and building my own pages.
Whenever I try to put the files back on to the humax box I get a server 500 error, complaining about invalid headers.
I've used Dreamweaver and Filezilla to download and upload the files.
I also tried...
Apologies for not replying to this earlier, I work away from home a lot and also have a 1 year old to entertain when I'm not working, so don't get much time to myself.
The current aerial is pretty small, I think it has 16(?) elements all of which are like small single rods.
I've bought an...
I had thought about an amp, I'll try that if I can't get it sorted another way.
No idea if it's a broadband aerial, how would I know? can you tell from looking at it?
We've just moved in to the house a couple of weeks ago so it could be the one the builders put in in the 70s.
It looks like the...
Sorry I didn't reply sooner, I've been away with work - not that you needed to know that!
When I go in to system settings it's channel 55 that the quality is low.
I've just installed the web-if pages and gone in to channel information.
To be honest most of the channels signal strength look...
I've just moved house and can finally get HD channels! but I've noticed some of the channels, especially in the evening, the picture corrupts and goes blocky.
The aerial is in the loft and I've no idea when it was installed, maybe even when the house was built in the 70s!
Looking in the system...
Does anyone know if my HDR-T2 can show subtitles when ripped from DVD?
I've ripped a couple of DVDs using handbrake saving them as m4v to play on my Humax.
There is an option in Handrake to include the subtitles, with burned into the video or as a user selectable option.
Using the second method...
Unfortunately It's the only gadgety type show I know of, at least that's running at the moment - it's been a while since Tomorrows World was on TV!
Besides no other gadgety shows have Suzi Perry and Pollyanna Woodward, which kinda makes up for some of the pap on the show!
;o)
Don't know if anyone caught this weeks Gadget Show?
They did a feature on Freeview HD PVRs, comparing the HDR T2, an Icecrypt 1TB and a Sagemcom 500Gb.
The Humax box came out on top with 4/5 stars.
They liked the TV Portal too which strangely included Sky Player!
I noticed it was running Ver...
The noise isn't loud enough to really hear when the TV on, but when I turn the TV and box off, obviously the sound goes off, you can definitely hear it.
It's nowhere near what my 9200 was.
The unit is on a shelf at the top of the TV cabinet by itself so ventilation isn't a problem.
It's warm to...
Since the recent firmware update I've noticed the cooling fan has been coming on a lot.
I don't remember ever hearing it before the update to be honest, but lately as I turn the unit off I notice the fan has been on, stopping about 10 seconds after powering down.
I seem to remember reading...
I've just run (well walked) downstairs to check on my humax.
TV Portal hasn't changed. Still says Beta, BBC iPlayer is still there, no new items.
Has there been any update on when/if SkyPlayer will arrive?
Does anyone know why it's only being transmitted on HD transmitters?
My Transmitter isn't switching to HD until 2012, hopefully the firmware will be on the website before then!
I don't even think they need to do that.
I seem to remember someone mentioning on hummy.org.uk that it used a 3rd party browser. I don't remember what it was called, but if the browser is already built and being used elsewhere is it something hardware related? Maybe.....
