I missed "Darkest Hour" on Saturday so decided to download it and watch it later. Although the download was successful the definition was only 704 by 496. Any ideas why this might be?
A pals 1000S has just stopped working and I have it in my place. I've tried another drive but the box doesn't detect it, and it doesn't prompt a format. From reading this thread it seems like it might be a resistor/capacitor problem on the mainboard. Is this something I can change and if so...
I think that drive has had it. The T2 doesn't see it in a cradle. A Linux laptop cannot read the Video folder. When it's in the T2 I'm prompted to format it. When I Telnet it, it went through the Fixdisk process and started again. Not the end of the world as I don't know when I'd have had the...
I decided to try using Macrium Reflect to do a clone. So far, so good but it's going to take about 12.5 hours doing a sector copy so I suppose that means copying blank sectors as well. I'll be able to see if it worked early hours tomorrow.
I've had a look at that and I'm a bit confused. The sequence seems to be replace existing disk with new one. Let it format ETC. Place new disk in caddy so I assume the old disk goes back in the machine? Then I telnet and install the software on the old disc when it's back in the machine?
The new HDD has arrived today. I suppose doing a clone of the dodgy one is the best procedure? I used Macrium Reflect which does a pretty good job. I belive Windows 10 can read EXT file system files but I'll be starting from scratch. Any other simpler suggestions would be appreciated. I can boot...
So could someone recommend a suitable drive please? In the meantime I'll check out the Seagate ST2000VM003 2TB .
Pete
EDIT: This is the drive that is in there now. Done three years, almost to the day.
As an afterthought, I'm going to have to replace the existing drive. How about one of these "Surveillance" drives and I have opted for WD stuff in the past.

Very good advice about not writing to it as it didn't occur to me until you mentioned it.
If the thread can be shifted that'll be OK with me.
Thanks
Pete
The drive was installed in August 2017 but until I open it up I don't know what make it is. When I find out I'll post the info as it may be of interest if/that it's become unreliable in three years.
It's dong a long test at the moment so I'm inclined to get a replacement and move the files if I...
Checked again this morning and got the following warning. I've also included the original one I had.
Checking on the box I only see empty folders and I'm advise to format the drive. On the web IF see the folders and their contents but if I try to download I get <192.168.1.89 refused to...
I checked the T2 today and had a HDD warning. I initiated a Telnet session and I'm running fixdisk. It seems to be stopping a lot and I'm prompted with <Do you wish to attempt repair of the bad block? [Y/N]:>. I select yes and after a short time I'm prompted again. Could I remove the drive and...
PSU is OK as there is video off the SCART. I loaned it to a pal and when he was admitted to retirement home a had it back. I fired it up but there is no signals detected.
It's in Swansea if you are local or semi local and I'll hang on to it until it's easier to get about and collect it. I can...
