I've just installed the customised firmware on a new HDR-FOX T2 (SW Version 1.2.29), but I'm unable to connect to the Hummy using a web browser. So far, I've tried the following:
1. Checked that "Cust FW 2.14" is displayed on startup.
2. Pinged. No problem.
3. Connected via Telnet...

I'm opting for USB 3.0, despite the Humax only supporting USB 2.0, to provide future proofing and in case at some point I use the drive for another purpose.

I don't know whether it would be possible (and, unfortunately, I don't begin to have the knowledge to do this myself), but it would be wonderful if there were a package that automatically backup up to an attached USB HDD.

OK, I've just worked out what I was missing. I've now entered cli to go to the command line, and have input fix-disk. The Humax has re-booted, but the Humax has frozen again in Maintenance mode, and I cannot connect using Telnet.

The IP address hasn't changed, and I've been able to Telnet back in.

I've successfully installed the custom firmware, and connected by telnet in order to run Fix Disk. When the menu came up, I elected to go into Maintenance mode. The Humax rebooted in Maintenance mode, but I am now unable to get a telnet connection.
Is it safe just to switch off at this point...
I am experiencing problems with the Humax occasionally freezing when I am accessing the Media screen at the same time as the Humax is recording. When this happens:
recording stops (and when I later access the recording, the message "Recording failed: loss of power. Do you want to play this...
