Synchronised crashes
It's over a month now since a Humax last crashed so I think we can safely say that dlna-filter solved the problem. Thanks to MymsMan and prpr for the advice as it is not something I would ever have thought of. And I now have a spare Humax!- geoffd

In the instances where we have seen the crash (most often when we switch the TV on for BBC Breakfast) there is nothing we are turning on or off.- geoffd

I have checked the packages and there was only an update to webif. I don't have dlna-filter installed but it sounds a very good suggestion as I guess if it can crash one Humax then why not two. The only DLNA server, other than the Humaxes themselves, I am aware of is on a Synology NAS box. I...- geoffd

Thanks. It is the custom firmware version that is the problem. The Humax with the problem is running 3.03 and the one that's OK is running 3.12. I realise now that I updated packages on both and I must now have a version of virtual disk that depends on 3.11 or above. I have to admit I had...- geoffd

Recursive auto-decrypt stopped working after upgrade (solved)

How long has that button been on my remote control?? Thanks Tim. Certainly worth a try and it was most interesting. Saves me having to use the Tosh to fix my broken picture! It does pass over one power cable but that is unavoidable. However it is only a spur to a 13 amp socket so I could disconnect it as a trial.- geoffd

That's a very good thought. I had originally intended using a simple HDMI splitter but the one I bought stopped working after a few weeks (before I got the Cat5 extender) and a second one I bought didn't work at all. Not even with the DVD player so I can't blame the Hummy.- geoffd
