Thanks for the ideas/reassurances...
I'll admit I'm not overly fussed about the command line access, I'd rather just improve security - and it's good to know there is a workaround if needed.
I need to go back through my Fox T2's settings etc as it seems to have thrown a wobbler a couple of...
Thanks for your replies folks.
I was trying to turn Telnet off under the advanced settings area, but I guess that's just the menu.
I'll have a go with the dropbear-ssh package though to disable it properly.
Thanks again.
Hi,
I'm just trying to switch off telnet access on my Fox T2.
In the web interface, the option is "Disable telnet menu?" (Yes/no)
When I select Yes (as in Yes, disable it) the resulting message states the telnet server will be enabled.
Could I please just check which way is off?
Hi,
I've recently sold my old HD FOX2...
Is the best way to the leave the box for the new owner, just a factory reset and then pull the plug without retuning?
Many thanks.
Could I please just check that during the daily auto update check, the hard drive presumably spins up and back down again?
I'm looking for a STB for someone in a bedroom environment, who is currently woken by their Sony box every morning.
I'm currently running 1.03.12 / 2.23, but would like to downgrade to 1.02.32 when moving to 3.03 to see if it speeds up the TV guide.
I can't remember what the original FW was, but as I bought the machine in Nov 2011, I presume it will have been pre-1.03.06?
...and I don't have to do anything...
Thanks for the info/tip BH. I'll have a play, and will first try a different channel for the 4am OTA update block.
Annoyingly (from a diagnostic point of view) the issue only seems to happen on the first boot of the day so will wait until next weekend so I can be around to see what happens.
The past couple of weekends our Humax has gone into a crash/reboot cycle when switched in the morning.
According to the crash log, the reboots take place every 66-84 seconds, and the machine works during this time, then the picture freezes (sound continues) as it crashes.
The only way I've...
Thank you for the advice folks. I'll get my HDR/HD updated, though may leave it until after the festive period to avoid any potential ear-ache in our household.
Having never previously updated the firmware, is it just a case of installing over the top? Will the packages need re-installing/configuring?
Current:
Web interface version: 1.0.13-2 (Lighttpd)
Custom firmware version: 2.23 (build 2035)
Humax Version: 1.03.12 (kernel HDR_1.03.12)
Indeed... I hadn't realised that there was a folder of HD content on the device.
I thought I had installed auto-unprotect during setup anyway, but it turns out I hadn't.
The HDR is now happily decrypting the files, and no more error messages or loop.
A big thank you. Going through the packages, it turns out that auto-unprotect wasn't installed even though I thought I had when working through the guide.
Again I feel like a dufus, but really appreciate everyone's help. :)
Just a quick update... I decided to go down the Foxlink route for streaming as network shares seemed a tad overkill for my needs.
The streaming all works really well, but I'm having a slight issue with the recursive auto-decrypt. :(
There is a folder of (HD) Top Gear episodes that won't...
Thanks for the info. I'm just heading to work so will have a proper read of the link (and hopefully set up) tonight. At first glance Foxlink looks the most straightforward, but will have a look through the site for past posts about the network shares method.
The lack of pain during install is...
Great - thanks for the confirmation.
Sidenote: I'm surprised how painless the whole process has been. I should have done it years ago.
