Is that with the latest update?
Yes, there was at least 8 freezes during the 2 half hour Friday Night Dinner episodes (9pm-10pm). I had to advance to the next channel and back again to stop the freeze. Not sure if it was the same issue as before. I had the 2 shows scheduled to record but watched them live, the recordings played back without fault as did a SkyArt recording just after (10pm-11pm). E4Xtra seems perfectly ok now.

I recorded Sky Arts on Friday (JoP), Bob sounded like he was gargling throughout. Sound any better on E4X?
I have not really noticed any of the sound issues you have had before or now, I recorded Guy Garvey on SkyArt and all the Music sounded fine, maybe my AV amp is improving the sound to an acceptable state or I am just lucky not to be affected.
I recorded Celebrity SAS on 4/7 channel 049 (Com5) on Monday night and when playing back there were several freezes, I checked last night and this morning and got the same results live, brief black screen and long freeze with picture occurring often at random times apart from there always being a freeze when the ad break ends. I have not noticed any other Com5 channels affected yet.

There was some strange behaviour on U&Dave last night. The sound was much better than recently, but there were strange glitches - perhaps error recovery artefacts. I didn't notice them on DaveJaVu. Also I had a 1-2s green screen and no sound. Someone piddling with the multiplex again?

Digitalbitrate has been showing ArqA/Com5 sound as 128kbps stereo (not joint stereo) on TV channels for the last few days, and the sound seems okay to me. Could it be the stereo/joint indication was a red herring? Just hope the sound stays as it is. It needs improvement - higher bitrate, but won't get it. What it doesn't need is that horrible mess it was (to me, on headphones) for about six of the last eight weeks.

128kbps stereo means two separate 64kbps channels, whereas joint stereo exploits the similarity between the L and R channels by encoding both together. If the signal is actually more-or-less mono, you're effectively getting 128kbps.
I've not tried to compare these, but it seems a shoe in to me that at low bit rates joint stereo is the better option.

I wouldn't dispute any of that. However, to my ears the joint-stereo and the current stereo are passable. The stereo that started this thread was dreadful. I'm not in a position to compare the current stereo with the original joint-stereo. Chances are I'd notice a difference. That doesn't completely explain the horrible sound quality for a few weeks, which was stereo. There's no doubt 128kbps is too low for stereo, but we have to live with it. Unless it changes again the sound is adequate - to me.

Yes, I had on 4/7 (channel 49) this evening (Morbius movie) and the picture froze solid at several points... and I suspect that it was because I had done a 'Factory Reset' back to 2021 versions for the 'Freeview Live TV' app, and 'Freeview' system app.
I reset because I had a several non-recorded instances for no apparent reason. I had missing Series Links, a few marked 'Invalid' in the Schedule (where the channel name sits) - and three instances being linked to nonsense channels:
'All Creatures Great and Small' being scheduled as BBC1 HD;
'All Creatures Great and Small' scheduled on QVC;
'The Beverley Hillbillies' scheduled on Ketchup.
Oh - and I had to factory reset twice - as initially, about 90% of recordings had became invisible to the system! The second reset brought them back.
Utter nonsense.
The Aura will now not update the Freeview app versions to the 2024 variants, despite following the procedure of 1 minute on, 1 min off, 5 mins on, 2 mins off. I wonder whether the box sets some sort of 'flag' in its memory which prevents it re-updating the apps should it previously have done so.
When factory reset, the catchup apps were for example, All 4, ITV Hub, UKTV, Horror Bites. After a few minutes they updated their logos to the modern Ch 4, ITV X, U, Legend variants.
Is Humax still transmitting app updates via the internet? Or have they been pulled?
I am getting issues on 4Xtra later in the day 4/7 any time of day and I noticed a brief black out on More4 the other day, I rarely watch any of those channels so it is not nearly as much grief as you have been having. I have never performed a factory reset on my Aura even when advised to by Humax preferring to wait for a proven fix than a "this may work" after seeing it fail to do anything to solve the problem for others and sometimes creating more problems for some. I assume app updates are still coming via the internet as all seems up to date for me. I grabbed Morbius from CH4HD on Saturday, this Saturday they are giving Prey its first TV airing so I suggest you save yourself from the same problem with 4/7 happening again next week.
