Assume v. Presume

I had that "To reassure you that this email is genuine, we have included the last three digits of your postcode here: " from the TV licence mob telling me my licence was due and when I got a second reminder still well before my current licence expired I mailed them and told them I would pay on the day of expiry and included "To reassure you that this email is genuine, I have included the single digit that expresses my opinion of you trying to get early payment here🖕"

but I haven't read whatever article
Neither did I, I just found the article with "numerical digit" as the title and did a quick scan to see if there was anything worth a proper read.
Yes, it came from the bank. Maybe I'll send them one of those online message/feedback/complaint things and see what they say (and do, if anything).
More trouble than it's worth. Although anyone can find your postcode. The last four digits of your account are less easy to obtain. Neither is proof that the email is genuine.

I pay mine by DD and got an early email - something about the licence being nearly due. I then got another email thanking me for paying and providing a link to the licence - ages before they took the DD (on the correct date). Arse and elbow seem to apply here.

I pay mine in full, does that mean you are making 12 payments in advance for your licence? My contempt for the licence fee and how the money is spent would never allow me to let them make more by paying early.
