Blank BBC Red Button Channel 250

My default channel is BBC Red Button Channel 250.

In the past couple of months or so, it has stopped displaying anything.

It's still 'there' as I can pull up the Info banner.

And my TV switches off if it's not receiving a signal, so it obviously is.

And occasionally, it will display the normal text, time etc. after an hour or so.

I receive transmissions from Sandy Heath.

Any ideas?

Oh, hang on.

The Web-IF Mux page reports the signal strength as 60% and the signal quality as 30%.

So it's probably that.

But I'd be grateful to hear about Sandy Heath from others.

So I am not alone in using this as my standard start up channel to avoid spoilers and to wait for me to choose what channel or recording I actually want to watch. :)

I have noticed too that it occasionally stays blank or takes a long time for its banner to display. Switching away from then back to it usually brings it back. This is on a old Digitalstream PVR from Oxford so not device or transmitter specific but looks like a more general thing.

That was the value when you tuned it, not a live figure. I would suggest you check all muxes' figures on the box itself (Settings, System, Signal Detection) for the real story.

Ditto. Yes, it's blank.

On all my equipment (including TVs) except the Aura the channel takes quite a while to appear. The Aura doesn't support MHEG, so the page we are all used to on 250 never appears. A replacement page is served quite quickly.
Could it be another (less than) subtle nudge from the BBC to move away from MHEG text services?

250 on my HDR-Fox-T2 ex Sandy Heath is fine, the colourful MHEG slate appears quite quickly. It's not my default channel on switch on if that makes a difference.

My Panny OLED being HbbTV capable produces just a black screen for a variable length of time before a stark b&w text message appears (it may also do MHEG?). Possibly longest from a TV switch on / Freeview TV mode select. {It starts up on my Foxsat-HDR input unless I've watched iPlayer or some alternate source.} "Press Red" while on 250 does nothing on the TV.

BBC Red Button 1 data and BBC RB1 video, when present, is carried only on the BBC A (standard definition) multiplex. On SDT that is freq ch 27. Unlikely with the HDR-Fox-T2 to be a mis-tuning to an alternate transmitter (such as Oxford, Waltham or CP due to the different Region) but worth checking when in the signal diagnostics menu, possibly.
