Whoops, sorry 'bout that. Is that why tinyURL is free? I shall have to find a better way of shortening URL's.

In the meantime here is a screengrab from Amazon. I'll buy one anyhow and see how I get on.

Thanks
Pete

It's funny how if you search Western Digital's site for WD20EURX they seem to have zero information on it, even on their so-called support pages, like it never existed.

2TB will need formatting in Linux before installing and then will be ex...ceeeeeeeeeeeeeeedingly s l o w when loading the recordings media list as it fills up...
My 1TB is slow enough thank you at 45-50%.

Pretty sure the disk model existed, as Scan has a web page for it with an "end of life" statement and in fact a WD10EURX is the disk I bought in 2017 for my Foxsat, according to my Amazon history... to replace the failed 1TB WD drive that had been in it before (which would have been from 2012/13). it needed a jumper on pins 5 & 6 to work at 3 1.5 Gb/s but can't be sure without looking.
EDIT Any disk with that model is gonna be extremely old stock if not worse.
EDIT 2 to correct speed and jumper info via that other forum threads.

I think I'd look for a current 1TB surveillance or nas drive that can be set to 3 1/5 Gb/s speed if I wanted a new one for my Foxsat.

OK, I'll take another look. If you have a suitable 1TB suggestion please let me know.

Thanks

I may have found a drive, Along with an extension to shorten Amazon links.

Amazon.co.uk
I don't understand why this presents you with any difficulty. Your link still contains unnecessary content:

Code:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B006IMFT32?th=1

Everything after and including the "?" is unnecessary.

You don't need any special tools, the forum editor "insert link" tool provides everything you need to paste and edit the URL and enter the text which appears in the post.

I wouldn't bother with link shorteners (such as tiny.cc) for forum posts, unless you want stats on how many times the link gets clicked, or the ability to modify the payload the link points to.

Thanks.

That is again gonna be ancient stock... Those disks haven't been made for years.
WD10EARS were being fitted circa 2019 and those are probably "end of life" as well by now. No jumper needed.

Still the Amazon seller has an address in Hounslow, mid terraced house, and Amazon take fulfilment responsibility if things are wrong from the outset (from the feedback).

In May 2024 a user on the other forum fitted a "Seagate Pipeline drive" (1TB) with no need for jumpers. However those may also be ancient stock or second hand from similar sellers.

Consider something like https://cpc.farnell.com/wd/wd11purz/drive-purple-3-5-sata-6gb-s-1tb/dp/CS3644 as WD say their drives are backwards compatible https://support-en.wd.com/app/answe...rved. Learn about the different SATA versions.

I never knew that. Message received, understood, tried and extension removed.

I've been looking at the thread on using an SSD. I have a couple of N.2 NVMe drives in my PC as well as a 1TB SSD. I also have a couple of 1TB SSD's that I use for doing a system drive clone every couple of weeks. I'd like to try one of those, if that is possible on the Foxsat.
