Humax foxsat-hdr will not boot

i need help..
i switch on my humax..
and here is what happens

IT DISPLAYS THE WORD BOOT..
THEN AFTER 20-30 SECONDS IT JUST SHUTS DOWN..
IT THEN WILL NOT RESTART AT ALL FOR AROUND 5-10 MINUTES.
THEN ON RESTART THE SAME PROBLEM PERSISTS..

PLEASE HELP..

Presumably you have cycled the mains supply?

im not sure what you mean by cycled the mains supply..

it was working fine up till two days ago...
then one morning the problem started..

Switch it off at the mains, wait a short while, then switch it on again.

to be honest...it was off for about 24 hours after the problem started.....
i just try to address the problem this morning..

also i have tried the box several times today,and have turned it off for a short while several times before reconnecting..
im 100% certain thats not the problem..

Worth a try, but I'm now out of ideas. You'll have to wait for an expert. You could always try a firmware reload via the USB socket.

If it's not under warranty, remove the lid and disconnect the Hard Disc cables. Can you now boot the box ? If so try firmly reconnecting the cables, will the hdr now boot or not ?

disconnected the hard drive...
but still same problem is there..
just displays boot for around 20-30 seconds then just shuts down..

Have you tried disconnecting the inputs from the LNB?

i have the box on my work bench with the lid off...
so nothing is connected..

or do you mean removing the lnb circuit board away from the main board inside the humax..

I just meant disconnecting the inputs on the exterior of the unit.

my gut feeling tells me its knackered..
possibly the power board that has failed..

...or perhaps something is dragging to much current out of it.

Be careful of any big capacitors on the power supply board - they can retain lethal voltages for quite some time after switch off (especially if the power supply is suspect).

It is still not clear what you mean by "off"? In standby or disconnected from the electricity supply?

what i mean is..
the problem was there in the morning when i got up..
could fix it quickly..
unplugged it and plugged in a normal sky box...
i didnt get around to trying to fix it for 24 hours later..

Check the power supply capacitors for any sign of bulging. It's a a common problem on the Foxsat-HD afaik hdrs aren't affected but there is a possibility some might be.
