Humax greenscreen on some tvs

The method (blocking pin 19 of the HDMI plug attached to the Humax box) described in the HD Fox thread was effective for me.

I found, and now perhaps understand the linked description better, that it was necessary to select a resolution using the V-Format remote option in order to get digital AV to appear. In my configuration the Humax HDR Fox-T2 is connected by HDMI to one input to a Denon AV receiver with a further HDMI to the TV; the AV receiver gives priority to the HDMI connection even if its negotiation hasn't completed (which it can't because pin 19 is blocked).

I frequently experienced the 'Green Screen' after start up with my Sony Bravia KD43X72K. I have no idea why it started doing it, but may have coincided with a OTA TV Firmware update.
I tried changing HDMI cables, HDMI TV input, but to no avail. Unplugging/replugging the HDMI cable after it had booted usually fixed it, but this was a pain.

In the end, I inserted an HDMI switch between the Humax and the TV, and had it powered from the rear USB port on the Humax. This seems to have either interrupted, or suppressed the DTCP negotiation, and it's been fine for 3 months now. 🤞

The model I used was;
PROZOR HDMI Audio Extractor 3 IN 1 OUT 4K@30Hz HDMI Switch with IR Remote HDMI Optical Adapter HDMI to Optical SPDIF Toslink 3.5mm L/R Audio Converter Support 5.1CH for Blu-ray DVD PS3/4 HDTV Etc

I have been having the same problem with one particular Humax. I had been wondering what I could do to change something so I tried the switch you recommended and it solved the problem. Thanks!

Hi Chroma

Using a HDMI switch powered from the Humax USB port also worked for 'Green Armchair'
The PROZOR HDMI switch I listed in post #15 is still available at around £18~22.
Edited: Other users with the issue could try a different make, or try and borrow one to try first.

Good luck

The PROZOR switch worked for me so will leave it at that. But I suspect most HDMI switches would probably work.

It needs to be one which conducts the HDCP negotiation independently, rather than just passing it through. Consequently your suspicion can't be relied upon.

But bgileuk does not appear to have read the post he was replying to properly.

True.
It would be hard to find out about the negotiation process on different switches I expect.
For now I think if anyone else is looking for a green screen fix, trying the PROZOR switch would be a good gamble.

Black Hole

You are correct in your assumption that I didn't read the full post before posting my reply 😖 Sorry folks!
So that's 3 users so far that have successfully used the PROZOR switch to resolve the issue.
