This is why most systems work on twos compliment for negative numbers, and on integer systems this means that negative numbers appear to have a greater range than positive numbers, e.g. -256 to +255 for 8 bits.

That I do remember. Along with the fun I can have with incorrectly sized integers in C.

That will just about cover the few seconds it takes for a clerk to read the fixmystreet report and mark it as no action needed without any investigation.
 
My daughter is learning to drive so (lucky her) I bought her this 488 page thriller for bedtime reading:

It's only the 10th edition (2022) so should we be lenient when they mess up the fundamentals of how a car works 😉. There's more errors, just in the "beginner's guide" glossary section alone.
