[network-shares-automount] package released

I have an HD and HDR, both running 1.02.27. I don't have any use for network sharing between the two but I'll try and set this up tonight to see if I can get it to work.

I just mounted my HDR onto the HD using both Samba/CIFS and NFS and in both cases I could play decrypted standard definition content fine..
I didn't use the network-shares-automount package because it was quicker to just mount the shares by hand for what I wanted to test. I'm just in the process of decrypting last night's Silent Witness (HD recording) to see if that plays.

Code:
humaxhd# mkdir /media/nfs
humaxhd# mkdir /media/cifs
humaxhd# mount humax:/mnt/hd2/My\ Video /media/nfs
humaxhd# mount -t cifs //humax/media /media/cifs

Was hoping that you would test out the installation of auto-mount on a 1.02.27 modified box. To determine if a shared recording played without getting the The program is scrambled message

I can give that a go but I'd expect the same results - the auto-mount package just effectively runs the same commands that I did.

What's the second boot for af?
On the first boot, the files that were saved by the prepare_for_upgrade diagnostic are moved back, but that happens after the Humax software has started so another reboot is required to make some packages work properly (for example, if you go to the portal after the first boot it won't be the custom one - always assuming you have the custom portal installed of course.)

From a telnet session could you type 'mount' on the client (box with CIFS installed), 'smbstatus' on the server (box with samba installed) and 'top' on both boxes. Then post the results here.

PS. Type q to exit 'top'.

What command in telnet on my pc will address each of my boxes, presumably something which includes its ip address?

You are only communication with one at a time so you have to open each one separately. You could open two Telnet sessions (windows) simultaneously if you like. Thus in two separate windows:

o 192.168.1.68

..would start command-line communication with my HDR-FOX, and

o 192.168.1.64

..would start communication with my HD-FOX.

To do it consecutively in the same Telnet session requires an exit from one (back to the raw Telnet command line) and then opening communication with the other.

I'm not sure if this will fix the problem but there is one thing that is not quite right. The 'network-shares-automount' should be removed from the server since it is only used by the client. After removing the package you will need to reboot the server since it does not properly clean up the mounts. The [ModSettings] folder should no longer be present on the server. You may then have to also reboot the client if it does not reconnect after the server reboot.

xyz321. You sir, are a genius. I removed the network-shares-automount from my HDR. Did a full reboot, manually removed the [modSettings] file and voila! I can now watch recordings with full control on my HD.

Thanks also to jsrobo for sharing his log files so the problem could be diagnosed.

And thanks to Black Hole, af123 and all others that provided guidance and advice.

Unfortunately it didn't work for me

I have now reinstalled the custom firmware on both boxes, being careful not to include anything that itsn't exactly necessary, keeping CIFS (H1) & Samba with auto-unprotect and unencrypt installed (H2) in there right places. I let network-share-mount load CIFS. I've done all this with web-if (removal cf, deleting mod & share directories & then re-install cf). Have now re-entered mod-settings on H1 (with remote) to hopefully setup a Share directory for sharing files on H2. Like last time this might take sometime before the Share directory shows up on the H1 box,,, we shall see.
Does this all seem to be right and the correct way to do it, do you think?
