Bonus marks for spelling "programme" correctly. Points deducted for not including an Oxford comma. Not sure what I think about giving permission for viewers to be offended.

I just wish they had added "Hard luck – real life isn't always the way you might like it, and there's always the OFF button.".

Rumour has it that the remaining Pythons insisted on this. I wish all programme rights holders would do the same. I can just imagine someone trying to show The New Statesman. B’Stard (as a name and in full) would be “dipped” - making a nonsense of some of the jokes.

The place for the banner (if you really must do this) is in the space before the programme - not during it. Forces TV has a habit of squashing from bottom upwards the picture to insert such warnings. Like the forces don’t use fruity language.

Surely all current programmes should also be flagged with a warning that they contain language and attitudes of their time?
 
Perhaps you all miss the point.
Any culture is acceptable except british culture - which is offensive by default and must never be preserved.

I'd forgotten about Bstard - I'd love to see that again.
 
:rolling: The chanting from the audience at the live Masters Darts is a bit fruity. There was a message on-screen saying something like "we apologise for the offensive language".
 
OMG! Even Porridge has been cut now!! U&Yesterday, episode 'Ways and Means', Fletch boots McLaren into the cell... but the rest of that scene was cut.
 
I can't remember the episode so don't know what happens in the cut scene. It can't be far from the original broadcast time, so why are they censoring. U& seem to have form for this.
Some channels have been known to broadcast daytime and a post-9pm versions of programmes, although now I see more censored programmes after 9pm. I wonder if the Porridge episode is censored on U player (or Channel 4 player). That is a rhetorical question, I've no intention of looking!

Of course, it may have been cut for timing purposes - more and more adverts.

Edit: Not on U or 4 players. On iPlayer.

This sort of editing, censorship - call it what you will - has been going on for a long time. Various foreign English language programmes, usually ones shown at a more appropriate time in the originating country, get edited to show at the "wrong" time in the UK. The number of times I've watched a programme where the scene doesn't make sense, or there is a reaction shot to something that hasn't happened - at least not in our version. There really is no excuse for Porridge. Now, certain episodes of Fawlty Towers may need a trim if shown too early. But here's the thing - don't show them too early. Show them after 9pm, with a warning if you must, and let the Major spout his, some would say, offensive language. 'Allo 'Allo might cause problems "Good moaning. I was pi55ing by the door when I heard two shats". I'm sure the though police would like to erase that one as well.

On a similar note. Not long after Talking Pictures TV started they screened an old film (The Clouded Yellow with Trevor Howard). I'd seen this film years before on Channel 4. There were several odd edits including the first scene establishing who the main character is was cut. Later two scenes were run together and it just didn't make sense. I complained to TPTV and AFAIK they've never shown it again. You'd think TPTV would source their films properly. Why do we have the American (sorry Ontario ;) ) version of an English film rather than the original. (eg. Fortune is a Woman (UK) not She Played With Fire (US) - only difference is the titles and the pronunciation of one word (as far as I can tell)). At least there were no odd edits in that film.
 
The way things are going, with the sensitivities of the little darlings who need to be warned what they are about to see in case it might over-stimulate them (isn't that the whole point??), there will be no TV before 9pm. How you deal with that when said little darlings don't use linear TV, I don't know!

Isn't that the whole purpose of the online protection act, banning under 16s and age verification - at least for the "little darlings". What you do about the over sensitive and over 16s I don't know. How long before you have to prove who you are and how old you and anyone watching with you are before a lock on the streaming service is released and you can watch a completely intact original version of (eg.) Fawlty Towers? Even better, stick it behind a pay-wall in the process. "Bleep" off!

They're the ones I mean (over-sensitive over-16's). The type for whom King Lear was not written.

Not that I would want to, but I'm not sure who will be working in our meat processing in the near future. Foreigners, probably, for whom life is of little regard (and neither are our laws on animal welfare).

I would not worry about that, Musk, Bezos and Zuckerberg will be the only ones who can afford meat before that happens. The nearest us peasants will get to meat is watching an episode of Naked Attraction if the faint of heart have not covered it all up with pixilated fig leaves.
 
Our laws are designed to persecute the innocent for occasional minor transgressions, according to somebody, not necessarily correctly.
'They' don't seem to want to tackle the big stuff, unless the $h!t really hits the fan. I wonder how long the low-level => medium-level stuff has been going on in Middlesborough for example?

So-called 'Travellers' desecrating land on bank holiday weekends seems to be the in-thing now. You'd think councils would be wise to it wouldn't you? But no (although they'll persecute you relentlessly for cutting your hedge today rather than tomorrow).
I would send in the army, smash up their caravans and rip up the hard-core/concrete these scum put down in a couple of days. If they get violent (if???) I would send them to prison. If prisons are full, I would empty them from the top (i.e. most serious offenders) by execution.

Likewise illegal immigrants i.e. criminals - sink the boats at sea, or execute them on land when they arrive on the beaches. That would soon stop them coming. I certainly wouldn't be giving them free accommodation, free medical/dental/optical care, free trips/outings, free travel, free food, free money. No wonder they keep coming.

Make me PM. I'll soon sort out this fcuking country and everyone who takes advantage of it. Adny Burmanh is just another waste of space, like all the rest.
 
The 🥧🔑's own the land then build on it and seek retrospective planning permission which takes it out of the remit for police action and making it a civil event that the council has to deal with. A change in law to make it a criminal offence and remove retrospective planning permission existing would see an end to it happening. Also ensuring they are heavily fined including the seizing of vehicles for fly tipping when they leave an illegal site and remove their excuse of not being able to use local tips as they are not local residents by providing them a temporary license to do so. Most of these so called travellers are from Ireland and came here because Ireland created laws that they did not like so we need to adopt those laws too.

Students have to pay back a government loan for their education so why do we not make a similar system for migrants, any costs and benefits they receive will need to be paid back if their asylum is granted. Give them a set period of time to become a contributing member of society and if they have not then revoke their asylum and deport them. Also offer a financial reward for reporting illegal migrants. Needless to say we will have to get the bigoted abusive pile of :poop: known as the European Convention on Human Rights out of our Human Rights Act 1998 and make amendments to it.
