Recordings in Remote Scheduling remain queued despite reboots.

Hi everyone,

I have recently purchased a HD-FOX T2 and installed the Official Humax Firmware 1.02.29, then plugged in a USB HDD and installed CFW 2.14/1.02.29.

The following packages work great:
- network-shares-automount (to automatically connect to shares on my NAS and play DiVx on my HD-FOX T2)
- dropbear-ssh (which works fine along with telnet)
- portal-xtra1 (can connect sucessfully to external sites such as YouTube)

However I have an issue with the Remote Scheduling Service (i.e. the rs package version 1.0.1); basically all the programmes which I schedule through the RS EPG remain queued, they do not move to an active status no matter how many times I reboot the box.

Note: I can schedule schedule recordings successfully through the Standard TV Interface and webif.

The Remote Scheduling Setup section (in webif\settings) shows a registration status of Active (i.e. my account was successfully registered).

The RS web site shows that the following device is properly linked to my account:
Code:
Unique Identifier: c141531421
MAC Address: <data removed by user>
Model: HD
CFW Version: 2.16
RS Version: 1.0.1
Disk Size: iB
EPG Region: Central Scotland (12360)
EPG Favourites Group: None
Last Seen: 11:38 am on Sunday, 12th May 2013

Note that I removed the MAC address from the above entry, but I confirm that the correct MAC address is being registered on the RS web site.

The odd thing is that the RS web site retrieve data from my HD-FOX T2 such as boot time, uploaded EPG entries, see log below:
Code:
Recent Activity (reverse order)
Time    Message
12/05/2013 22:15:48    System booted.
12/05/2013 14:36:59    System booted.
12/05/2013 12:05:28    System booted.
12/05/2013 11:38:20    Uploaded 7 EPG entries, 317.00 bytes.
12/05/2013 11:31:39    System booted.

Would anyone know why the RS web site can detect when the box is rebooted but is unable to move the recordings from Queued to the Pending and Active status?

I reinstalled the RS package to no avail.

PS: as shown below, both the chanpush and diskpush diagnostic outputs shows that the system is already up-to-date

Hi af123,

Here is the diagnostic output of rs/checkin:
Code:
>>> Beginning diagnostic rs/checkin
Running: rs/checkin
>>> Ending diagnostic rs/checkin

Does not seem to do a lot...

The events that were scheduled through RS never show up in the WebIF Scheduled Events page, not even as pending. Basically the events scheduled through RS shows as pending on the RS web site only, not on the box itself.

If I schedule an event through the WebIF interface, then those events correctly show as pending first and active after a reboot.

This post has been split because it had tooo many images!

Last week my HDR was exchanged by Humax (sometimes on starting it couldn't find a signal and missed several timed recordings) and I installed the customised firmware on it, including rs. I now have the same symptoms, although it worked well on the previous unit. Has something been missed out in the new version of rs (but was left in when we merely updated the package from an earlier version, rather than install it on a new machine)?
The information on the unit is incomplete on the rs site settings
The rs version and disk size are missing, and the EPG region took about a day to show. (I could get the EPG to show on the rs site until this appeared in the settings)

When I log into the rs site it briefly brings up a banner asking me to update rs to version 1.0.0, so it hasn't found the version (1.0.1).

Hi Roger,

As yourself, the rs site briefly brings up a banner asking me to update rs to version 1.0.0 (although I am using 1.0.1), sorry I should have mentioned this.

In my case, the device linked to my rs account only started showing the RS version (i.e. 1.0.1) once I reinstalled the rs package on the box, before that it was showing blank as per your last post.

Is there a way to downgrade the rs package from 1.0.1 to 1.0.0 to determine if this is the root cause?

Cheers,
Ant

This is a list of the queued commands. I first asked for a reboot a couple of days ago, but it hasn't happened.

Images now attached as thumbnails!

I have deleted and remade my RS account reinstalled RS but the version of RS hasn't appeared.

Prior to an update to the post above, the image attachments in the preceding posts were not there. Even so, they could have been inserted into the post text as thumbnails instead of just listed as attachments.

How are you trying to add images? Copy & paste won't work (not as images anyway, and as text extracted from a web page you are at the mercy of the gods). Use "Upload a File" and then you will get the option to add the image to the post as a thumbnail or full size (use thumbnails to be kind to readers).

Yes, uninstall 1.0.1 and then install 1.0.0 as follows :-
Code:
opkg remove rs
opkg install http://hummypkg.org.uk/hdrfoxt2/base/rs_1.0.0_mipsel.opk

opkg install http://hummypkg.org.uk/hdrfoxt2/base/rs_1.0.0_mipsel.opk
Installed rs as suggesred and rebooted box. That certainly changed things.

The rs version is given in the setting as 1.0.1(?) and the schedule of forthcoming recordings has also appeared. The disk size has still not been reported
The list of queued commands refuses to move, despite it including a "reboot" command, and several reboots on the box itself.

Can you post the unique identifier that RS has assigne to your Humax? It can be found in the RS site settings page.
I'll have a look and see if I can work out what is happening here.

Hi Ezra,

I uninstalled rs version 1.0.1, rebooted the box and installed version 1.0.0 using the command you suggested, however it seems that during the install of rs v1.0.0 it automatically downloads v1.0.1 of rs as shown from the output below:
Code:
humax# opkg install http: // hummypkg.org.uk / hdrfoxt2 / base / rs_1.0.0_mipsel.opk
Downloading http: // hummypkg.org.uk / hdrfoxt2 / base / rs_1.0.0_mipsel.opk.
Installing rs (1.0.1) to root...
Downloading http: // hummypkg.org.uk / hdrfoxt2 / base / rs_1.0.1_mipsel.opk.
Configuring rs.

The Package Management section in webif still shows rs version 1.0.1 being installed, I still have the same issue as originally described. Note that the auto-update package is not installed.

Have you got another alternative to force the installation of rs 1.0.0?

I still have the same issue as originally described.

The server side looks okay. Are you able to get a command line prompt via telnet and run:

Code:
humax# rs -d cmd

You should obscure the MAC address and key if you post the output here.

It should look something like this:

Code:
humax# rs -d cmd
SQLite3: 3.7.5
Curl version: libcurl/7.19.6 OpenSSL/1.0.0a zlib/1.2.3
String: bare&mac=00:03:78:xx:xx:xx&&host=humax&id=4732518c5fe6dbeb8429cdda11d65c3d
schedule||17609|53200|1|103|ITV HD|1368971400|Britain's Got Talent

If you don't get a schedule line like that, then you can try the URL in a web browser to see if that works any better:

Code:
http://rs.hummypkg.org.uk/api/cmd.html?bare&mac=00:03:78:xx:xx:xx&&host=humax&id=4732518c5fe6dbeb8429cdda11d65c3d

in my example case.

Hi af123,

The rs -d cmd command returns the following:
Code:
humax# rs -d cmd
SQLite3: 3.7.5
Curl version: libcurl/7.19.6 OpenSSL/1.0.0a zlib/1.2.3
String: bare&mac=00:03:78:xx:xx:xx&&host=humax&id=06b17a883b7cbb87070dd5394af2a34b
54693|schedule||4220|43337|1|1|BBC ONE Scot|1368648000|The Apprentice

However the Scheduled Events section in webif (and on the HD Fox T2 menu) does not list the above entry as shown from the screenshot below:
Webif Scheduled Events.jpg

Does this mean that my HD Fox T2 is aware of the scheduled event in rs (i.e. "The Apprentice" in my case) but it is not capable of duplicating this entry locally on the HD Fox T2?

Edit: I noticed the last line is 54693|schedule however yours does not start with a number. Is there an explanation of code 54693?
The correct url is definitely http: // rs.hummypkg.org.uk/api / cmd.html?bare&mac=00:03:78:xx:xx:xx&&host=humax&id=06b17a883b7cbb87070dd5394af2a34b, hence 54693 is definitely not part of the string.

It means that the Humax can retrieve the entry from the RS portal but isn't acting on it for some reason.
You should be able to see some progress if you run the /mod/sbin/rs_process now command from the CLI - and maybe an error.

You are correct, I have the following error:
Code:
humax# /mod/sbin/rs_process now
Runtime Error: /mod/sbin/rs_process:8: could not read "/mod/tmp/rs.log": No such file or directory
in procedure 'file' called at file "/mod/sbin/rs_process", line 8

Indeed /mod/tmp/rs.log does not exist on my system, actually even directory /mod/tmp/ does not exist. I searched the whole drive and could not find rs.log at all.

I really do not know how to troubleshoot rs_process, I edited the file but to be honest I am way out of my comfort zone with codding. Here is line 8 of the rs_process file:
Code:
if {[file size /mod/tmp/rs.log] > 10485760} { file delete /mod/tmp/rs.log }
