[redring] Show red LED ring when recording in standby + other options...

I left a 30 Min. gap between recording 1 and Recording 2 to make sure the Humax went into proper standby, as I found the hard disk didn't spin down due to the AR 15 Min. early wakeup otherwise

Well, it seems to be easily reproducible, well found!
I'll re-test without Redring installed to confirm that is where the problem is then try and work out what is going on.

It was just by chance that I seem to go to bed in the early hours when it's recording. I did some testing during the day once I made the connection between late recordings and failed next-day recordings in standby, two fails with RR and two passes without it. Thanks for looking at the problem

Could it be that Redring is somehow stopping a message to the front panel that tells it when to wake back up after the recording has finished and the Hummy has shutdown?

It certainly seems like that but the logs show the command going through, and I can't work out why this case would be different..

I don't pretend to understand the RR codes but is David referring to the SetWakeup lines below, because it looks like '01 50 08 40 58' gets overwritten with '01 00 00 00 00'
EDIT
I get it now, 50084058 Hex = 1342718040 Dec = Epoc eqiv. 19 July 2012 18:14:00 GMT+1, so 0000000000 = Epoc equiv 01 January 1970 00:00:00 GMT+0

EDIT Switch out of standby with Remote Control at 17:51

It does look like the first one is being overwritten, but that's something the Humax software is choosing to do and I've seen it happen without it causing the box to fail to wake up. I had assumed that there was a set of two timers and that the software was just making sure that the second one was zeroed.

My box is unfortunately tied up recording Hollow Crown tonight so I can't do any testing until later. I want to test to see if turning off all of the redring options stops the problem from occurring. If anyone has the time to try that it would be appreciated otherwise I'll try it later (I know Saturday night is probably a time that you're all recording something!)

I have a box standing idle tonight. If you could explain exactly what requires doing to test this, I would be happy to oblige.

I can probably have a look, I only have 4 RR options turned on anyway, they are:- show purple, enable debugging and the two half awake ones e.g. red+blue ring

You set the box off recording something that is due to finish shortly and add something to the schedule that should start recording > 15 minutes after the current recording stops. Then put the box into standby while it's still recording. At the end of the recording it will completely power down. The problem that Ezra has found is that it won't wake up again for the next recording.

Oh, ok.. My suspects were the ones that affected the VFD brightness but if you're not using them then that's out...

I have turned off all redring options, rebooted, started a recording, set a recording for later, and put the box into standby.
My box is now recording in standby, and has a bright Orange ring ? So I will see if the next recording works.

Thanks - my box is now recording CSI and then it will be doing Mrs Brown's Boys! At least I got to see the purple ring for a short while.

Just realised, as I have AR enabled my second recording (start at 10:45) will have a wake-up at 10:30 and it just has, so I think it will record in 15 Mins
EDIT
Recording has started, So next I'll enable purple and debug options and run another test.
One strange thing, although all RR options were off when recording started the Ring was a dim Red NOT amber

I also have AR enabled, and had a test recording due to finish at 9:20pm, and a second recording due to start at 10:10pm. The box never woke up for the second recording.

Oh dear, I'm not sure where that leaves us, my Humax did record and Brian's didn't
What was your LED ring indicating when you put the box in standby during the first recording? Mine was Bright Orange, when it should have been Dull Orange.
