Register of Weird Crash Symptoms

Last week's fault was the TV reporting a signal of 1920x540 from the HDR (can't remember the frame rate) and indeed it was.
A half screen of green vertically centred and the rest of the machine dead. Power off and on cured. Never seen that one before.
The TDA9984A HDMI o/p chip isn't meant to support 1920x540, so I suppose something must have made its 1080i seem like 540p.

Today's fault on a different remote one: no reception and therefore eventually no WebIf EPG despite the machine having been to sleep several times since it last worked.
Power off and on cured and EPG now working. I didn't think the front panel had anything to do with the tuners on the main board, so how does this happen?
At least the tuner from which the EPG and TV out is derived developed twisted underwear and then worked again after power cycling. Is that surprising?

I was under the impression that the main board was depowered in a sleep condition and only the front panel had power, which would have depowered the tuners.
So it looks like that is not true.

It could be that there is a more stringent reinitialisation (driven by s/w or by the demodulator IC) on power-up than on waking from sleep.

I believe that is the case.

More like the software restart – the demodulator wouldn't know the difference.

HDR3 again. The programme continues fine, but the UI has frozen! I wanted to alter the WIDE setting, and it's stuck with the "pillar box" overlay on-screen (top right). Can't change channel, or do anything else. WebIF still working, but virtual remote not having any effect either.

Reboot from WebIF froze the picture (sound continues) and failed to reboot the hardware, but did restart the WebIF, but now I don't have access to Settings (Loading Settings... spinner), and the Diagnostics page isn't loading at all. Media browser is OK, and EPG, but not it seems anything which has to query the Humax stuff directly.

Weird. I'll just have to power-cycle... Seems OK now.

Last week's fault: The HDR's button/ring was blue when it was supposed to be recording, so I thought it wasn't (much annoyance).
Further investigations revealed it actually was recording perfectly well. I don't run redring. Power cycled regardless afterwards and back to normal.
