shifting channels around

i cannot for the life of me remember how you shift the channel numbers around on the list on the foxsat HDR. I have got ch5 on 105 but then I have 5+1 on 5244 and want to stick it on 106. i thought I could do it with the channel editor package but all I can do with that is rename channels and mark them as default or freesat or non-freesat. I cannot move the channels around on the list. any ideas please?

I have no knowledge of the Foxsat but on the HDR FoxT2 and now the Aura I made a favourite list of just the channels I want, pretty much everything apart from adult/shopping/dating and bible bashing and when adding the channels to my list there is also a sort option to rearrange channels from numerical order to a logical order of your choosing and my remote has that list left as default when I view the TV guide.

I'd guess that Tunefix allows BBC1 HD to be renumbered to "1" and therefore just pressing "1" on your remote gets you BBC1 HD. Favourites may allow you to put things in order, but even though it's first in the list pressing "1" wouldn't necessarily give you that item. Doesn't bother me so much as I use channel up/down most of the time.

5224 is a non-freesat tuned/stored version of LCN 128 (5+1)... WHY is that even stored / wanted by you when 128 is available (in duplication)?

Logical Channel Numbers are exactly that what freesat/the broadcasters assign to them on that platform. Not all devices allow channels to be moved in a list... whether freesat/freeview or even $ky/Virgin.

The Foxsat-HDR certainly allows unwanted channels to be deleted via the Menu>Edit Channels>Edit Channel List feature and also Create/Edit Favourites in the same area Menu>Edit Channels>Edit Favourite List
But I can't see a way to re-order channels within a Favourites list. YMMV?

NB I'd start tuning from scratch again. Only tune in the very few Tps with FTA but non-freesat channels you really, really want to watch/record manually (are there any/many?); starting from 5001 up... Delete all those non-freesat channels stored but the ones you need and go from there.
In my experience of Channel Editor/non freesat use (when C4 HD was FTA but they wouldn't pay Freesat to be on the HD EPG) it would regularly disappear from my stored channels anyway. Again YMMV.

If that was the only benefit it would not tempt me, I also use the channel up & down button. I just want the SD-HD-+1 versions in that order and other styles and genres grouped together, a movies grouping, channel 4 & 5 spin off channels in groups etc and then all those groupings ordered from Channel 1-5 then in order of most often viewed with the ones at the end maybe never viewed with radio stations all a backspace from BBC1 SD.

That was the idea of adding 5224 for 5+1 was because the 5+1 one in the freesat (indeed could have been 128) had blank picture , sound and subtitles - but i could get picture, sound and subtitles on 5224 fine. (I live in Ireland , I dont know if that was what was happening and used a BT belfast postcode on installation)

when I added 5224 5+1 i then went into channel editor on my web if and deleted 128 5+1 (the one without picture but with sound) and set the 5224 5+1 from 'non-freesat' to freesat so it just come up in freesat list (I tend to keep my HDR S2 on freesat all the time) - but i cannot see in that S2 web IF channel editor a way to move the channels around , just name them from freesat to non-freesat and set as visable or not .

I have a fox T2 HDR as well. I must be getting that in the mixup where you can adjust the order of the channels's in the WEB IF channel settings. - maybe the T2 Foxsat HDR doesnt have that facility, just renaming them?

Tunefix (on the HD[R]-FOX) provides complete control over what services get removed and how they are renumbered, and it maintains that over retunes. EG swap 101 with 1, 102 with 2 (etc), and ditch the 700+ services or anything with "adult" in the service name. Tunefix-update is separate, and imports tweaks to the tuning database without even having to retune. Not wanting to use them is fine, but they provide some of the major conveniences of the CF.

I've never used Tunefix, never even been interested in trying it. I prefer the LCNs to be the same as they are in the Radio Times and other listings, it seems detrimental to me for them to differ.

That said I don't stray much from the HD channels and those stay where they are. If I were watching the myriad of legovision low rent SD channels that change names and move LCNs and muxes regularly I might see the point of Tunefix and Tunefix-update.

Some people (only on one TV for me, no other device allows it) seem to prefer the HD channels to be on their SD equivalent LCN, no real conflict with RT there.
I watch almost nothing live, I record and watch the recordings. So I almost never enter channel numbers or use channel up/down, I just schedule recordings from the EPG generally from channel 101 upwards. The SD LCNs move BBC Three and Four away from the other channels so that's detrimental to me. Using the HD LCNs means all of the channels I record are visible in the EPG on the TV screen at the same time.
