TV companies think having a lower channel number, and/or grouping channels together, means they are more likely to be watched. I have no idea if any data backs this up.

TV companies think having a lower channel number, and/or grouping channels together, means they are more likely to be watched. I have no idea if any data backs this up.
It seems that Gold may be about to launch on Freeview in place of Dave Ja Vu on LCN23, so the the swap of Dave ja Vu with CCXTV was likely to get a more prominent place on the EPG for the reason mentioned above.

Not again, sigh. This involves channels my aunt watches, so that's another trip during lockdown to retune her box that I really shouldn't be making (she has no internet).

There is no absolute need to implement these yourself. Channel renames and LCN changes can be left as they are - nothing breaks. I never went from Sony Movies Classic to Sony Movies Christmas in the first place.

My aunt gets confused when the LCNs on her box don't match what the Radio Times says they're on. So for her, I do have to do the retune. For myself and my parents I will indeed ignore this as irrelevant.
What really annoys me is them doing this during lockdown when it is unecessary.

Please don't, you're performing a useful service getting the information out.
Perhaps I shouldn't have whinged here, it's not the right place. Your information is fine. It's the people deciding to perform such pointless channel shuffles during a pandemic that need to ask themselves is it really necessary.

Do you still have other channels from that mux COM5/ARQ A including Pick, Dave, Challenge etc?
It is a mux where I have a weak signal from Rowridge so reception is variable for me
