Undelete - Does it only work from webif?

I've installed the Undelete package. Does it only work if you are deleting files using the web interface? Or does it also work when deleting media files "on" the box the normal way with the remote? Just that I deleted something last night and it's not in the "Deleted Items" folder today.

Cheers,

The "move to recycle bin" operates on WebIF and SUI (Standard User Interface). What delete delay have you set in the WebIF undelete settings?

That's what I thought. I've not altered the original settings so it's set at 7 days. I'll try again tonight. It worked when I remoted in from work yesterday and deleted something using the Webif. To actually undelete would you move the file manually using the WebIf afterwards back to where it was?

Cheers,

Tried again this evening using the OPT+ button on the remote and it deleted the file completely i.e. didn't move it to the "Deleted Items" folder. Am I deleting the file incorrectly somehow? I'm on 1.02.20 firmware, 2.13 custom firmware. The package installed fine with no errors.
Using the WebIf the file gets moved to the "Deleted Items" correctly.
Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Yes, you generally need to reboot after installing any of the packages before they start working.

Yes, I've left the power down settings as standard so it has rebooted a few times. But could this also be causing undelete to fail - ie automatically switching off after 3 hours of inactivity?

It sounds like undelete isn't installed properly for some reason.
Try doing a force reinstall of the undelete package from the Web interface -> Diagnostics page (type undelete in the box and click on force reinstall), then shut down the box using the remote control (wait for the disk to turn off) and turn it back on.

If that doesn't work then try running the debugtv diagnostic which enables the humaxtv.log file following the next reboot and some information from undelete should appear in that log which will help to pinpoint what is going wrong.

That's sorted it! I got the following and the last line looked a bit suspect but I have deleted a file using the SUI and it has gone into "Deleted Items"
Marvellous :)
>>> opkg install --force-reinstall undelete
Removing package undelete from root...

My Undelete still stops working after a seemingly random time :( I've done a force reinstall a couple of times now. Is anyone else having issues with this? I'm running the latest version 1-5.1. Found another post related to this and I've got OTA updates disabled with the "disable-ota" package - quite happy with the firmware I'm running at the moment - could not having this early morning boot be causing issues with undelete?

Seems to be working again now but below is today's empty_dustbin.log. I'm confused by the message :-

Due to lack of disk space deleted files have been kept for only 6 days

There was over 100GB free when it started? What is the "lack of disk space" referring to?

Here's the rest of the log:-

100GB is the trigger point for a change from 7 Days to 6 Days, See Info HERE

Undelete stopped working again over the past couple of days (in that files were immediately deleted not put into the "Deleted Items" folder) but the empty_dustbin.log still gets written to? I did a force re-install of it last night, didn't reboot afterwards, so the first boot was just now. Here's the log:-

I'm wondering if it's getting confused as it's not running for a week without having to do a force_reinstall?

The only reason you should need to force-reinstall is if the Humax has crashed at some point. As these extensions integrate closely with the Humax software, there is a safety net that disables them if the Humax software crashes shortly after boot - otherwise a bug in one of the extensions could result in your Humax just constantly rebooting.

If you upgrade the multienv package to the latest version, then whenever your Humax crashes it will create an entry in a new log called crash.log that is visible through the diagnostics web page. That log will also tell you whether the plugins are being disabled as a result of the crashes.

So I would upgrade multienv and see if anything appears in the crash.log that sheds any light on what's happening.

Same here Rob, recycle bin just stopped working, similar log to yours above. The box did crash a day or so ago so that may have been why it's stopped working.

As af123 suggested I've upgraded multienv to the latest version but undelete has been working fine since (typical :) ) and I've had no crash.logs generated. The box has only ever crashed a couple of times since I've had it.
