[webif] Web interface

It isn't beyond help. We'll be able to help you fix it if you bear with us.
Installing the official firmware then going back to custom won't make any difference.

Have you tried running the reset package again as xyz321 described? If so, was a log created on the USB stick?

Manually upgraded to 0.9.3-1 last evening. My box auto-upgraded overnight to 0.9.3-3 and I now have a lovely new graphic on the home page. :)

@af123, I couldn't find your announcement to give you a like!

In answer to your question Black Hole I am installing to a HDR Fox T2 and currently I have no external storage.
I tried reinstalling the reset download again last night from usb stick. The light on the stick flashed a couple of times when I initially inserted it but then remained on. I left it in for a minute (how do I know when it is complete)? Restarted the humax and loaded the page on laptop, got the message 'customised formware installed'. Tried download the full web interface again, it seemed to install and replace some files but then a lot of installation fails. There is no log on the usb stick, so I shall try same procedure tonight and do a screen dump of the result and post it.

Thanks for the suggestions

Geoff

Has your Humax still got a connection to the Internet? This may seem a silly question but all you have done so far is via a USB stick. The rest has to be downloaded from the repository, AFAIK. I might be wrong.(It wouldn't be the first time.)

It had internet connection this morning before I tried loading the interface. I shall check the portal when I get home to see if it is stable.

Hi Guys

I have set up the "Settings for epgkeywords plugin - EPG monitoring by keyword" and added my email address and clicked "Send test Email" but all that happens is the message "Sending test email, please wait...." and the twirling circle just sits there for about a couple of mins and nothing happens, no email is sent. I have tried different email addresses, but still no joy!

Any ideas?

@Geoff:

If you update the custom firmware to the new version 2.00 (http://wiki.hummy.tv/wiki/Firmware_Downloads) then create a specific file on the disk, then the next boot will do a full custom environment reset.

To create the file, you can either telnet in and type this (humax# prompt shown for context)
Code:
humax# touch /var/lib/humaxtv/_RESET_CUSTOM_FIRMWARE_ENVIRONMENT

or use FTP to create a file called _RESET_CUSTOM_FIRMWARE_ENVIRONMENT in the /media/My Video directory..

That should put you right back to a clean state so that you can start again.

Thanks for the alternative possible solution af123, I had thought maybe my experience with customised firmware was at an end,!
What would I have done with my time.
So, to make sure that I get it right then:
1. Power down humax
2. Insert usb stick containing customised firmware 1.02.20 mod 2.0 and install
3. Re-boot humax
4. Using 'Putty' at the humax# prompt enter: touch /var/lib/humaxtv/_RESET_CUSTOM_FIRMWARE_ENVIRONMENT
5. Launch interface, download and install full web interface and supporting packages

Thanks
Geoff

Not quite:
1. Power down humax
2. Insert usb stick containing customised firmware 1.02.20 mod 2.0 and install
3. Re-boot humax
4. Using 'Putty' at the humax# prompt enter: touch /var/lib/humaxtv/_RESET_CUSTOM_FIRMWARE_ENVIRONMENT
4a. Re-boot Humax - make sure it fully powers down (i.e. you hear the disk click as it turns off) before restarting.
5. Launch interface, download and install full web interface and supporting packages

Guys, managed to work this out on my own, only seems to work with a talktalk email address, not a hotmail or a gmail account!

Well I beleive that I did everything as detailed above but still cannot download the full web interface.
screen dump uploaded if anyone thinks they can help please?

Thanks
Geoff

Notes now in WiKi HERE

Thanks, but I think I am past all this (too old)!
What file type am I to create?
Do I create it locally and upload it using ftp?
I have already tried to telnet the command using 'putty', then rebooted the humax, and launched the interface but the result is as the screen dump in my previous posting.
Does anyone fancy trying to connect?

Thanks
Geoff

From a P.C. START >> Program Accessories >> Notepad >> file >> Save >>File Name >> RESET_CUSTOM_FIRMWARE_ENVIRONMENT >> Save This will create an empty file, no text is required as it is only the file name that is required, Goto the folder that the file was created in a check the file is present, If the file name has .txt on the end rename the file to remove .txt It is now possible to FTP the file to the Humax /media/My Video folder

Geoff, here's a new thing to try that I think should do it - third time lucky!

Have you managed to get in to the humax# prompt using PuTTY? If not then you just need to open PuTTY and put the IP address of your Humax in the host box and choose telnet as the protocol.

Once you get to the humax# prompt then type the following command (prompt shown for context)

Code:
humax# diag remove_mod_yes_i_am_sure

and post the results.. After you've done this and rebooted you should be back to the initial installation page, ready to try again.
