what a shame no more development for the Foxsat HDR

I am loving so far the Foxsat HDR Custom firmware but it to me (even though I have not got a clue about coding or compiling or porting etc or OPK's) that not more was done for the Foxsat HDR over the years. I know its a very old machine now but I bet there was much more potential seing as the custom firmware was made and unlocked a lot of features on the foxsat that technically more packages could have been made for it. Here are a few I think would have been great additions (well to me anyway) :

a package to dim the front FLD display lamp or even turn it off altogether
a package to have the time displayed on the FLD instead of the channel name
a package to have a picture in a box on the EPG or overlay the EPG on top of a picture
better legibility of the EPG (white lettering is not good on a light grey background
facility to change the screensaver from the jumping Humax to other screensavers or even turn it totally off
have radio name and information and song detail and other info when on freesat radio station
package to delete channels and not just hide them
Package to adjust fan speed and tempmon to work on the foxsat (like the fox T2 HDR)
Package (maybe) to record in SD (even HD channels) to save space on the HDD
Package to format the HDD as one partition instead of video/radio and music/photo partitions and also a chkdsk facility

maybe some (or all of them things maybe?) are not technically possible or possible to produce for the custom firmware due to hardware limitations or other reason, otherwise they would have already been released as packages for the foxsat?

Not necessarily. Doing all this stuff (voluntarily) requires skill and dedication, and it might never have come to the top of the tuit queue for those with skill and dedication. We are heavily dependent on relatively few people, and if their interests shift we lose them.

Exists for the HDR Fox T2, package is called RedRing but does more than that.

HDR Fox T2 custom firmware can change to display the playback time in a recording when playing, configured in the Web UI.

Those would require modification to the Humax application so would be very difficult.

Also would require modification to Humax application.

I think we can do that on the HDR Fox T2, not sure how though.

As you say, already on HDR Fox T2.
Package (maybe) to record in SD (even HD channels) to save space on the HDD
That would require re-encoding the video which is extremely CPU intensive, and the Foxsat CPU is very slow. If it could be done at all it would have to be offline after the recording has been made, and it might take hours for a 1 hour recording.
Package to format the HDD as one partition instead of video/radio and music/photo partitions and also a chkdsk facility
Formatting the disc differently might not be tolerated by the Humax application. HDR Fox T2 custom firmware already has chkdsk on the telnet menu.

I think @Black Hole put it best when he said the Foxsat HDR has Custom Firmware Lite.

It's worse than that. Even on HDR-FOX, significant tasks are limited by available RAM and have to be paged out to virtual memory on disk. When available RAM is too small a percentage of the memory space needed, the paging process overwhelms actual processing and nothing gets done. Ultimately it crashes.

Need I mention the Foxsat has even less RAM than the HDR-FOX?
