What is the difference between "decryption" & "decryption (direct, slower)"?

to max a humax

We own 2 Humaxes. Both are an HDR-FOX T2.

We now need to decrypt files, so we can play files - that were recorded on one Humax - on the other; & vice versa.

We also intend to start using the VLC software to play files through the WebIf.

What is the difference between "decryption" & "decryption (direct, slower)", as on the WebIf.

Is there an advantage to one decryption option or the other?

One is quicker than the other it seems.;)
Is this the royal 'We' or is there a group of you?:roflmao:
Just use the detectads package. That decrypts on the fly (and removes ads).

The purpose of detect ads is to flag (and remove if required) ad breaks. To do this, the data has to be decrypted. This can be done either after the programme finishes or 'on the fly'. Either way, the programme gets decrypted.

There is no need to decrypt files on a pair of Humax HDR-FOX-T2's. or install the CF. Each can play each others files directly if both are on the same network. This is because both boxes have a DTCP-IP client and server. Decrypting them allows them to be played on other kit like say a phone or a tablet.

DTCP? That's only relevant for HiDef recordings. The point is DLNA.

detectads isn't in that post BH.
It tells you how to find it, and information about it. Teach a man to fish...

Not sure what your point is. The fact is that the OP's requirement can be achieved without the custom firmware for any recordings. Talk about muddying the waters with totally irrelevant information.

I did not mention any difference between HD and SD recordings because there is none. Frankly your post adds nothing to this thread except perhaps to confuse the OP with totally irrelevant and confusing information.

Amazed no one posted this information in this thread first. :)

@ to max a humax. Nice easy straightforward one. Have you installed the custom firmware and the web interface yet?

I'm not sure what your point is. You used the term "DTCP-IP" instead of "DLNA", so it was you creating the confusion. It's a DLNA client/server, DTCP-IP is a protocol used to communicate between the the servers for the process of secure delivery of HiDef material only.

The information you refer to is up front in the standard references.

The OP was asking what the difference is between the two decryption methods presented as menu options in the WebIF, so we can be pretty sure he's got that far!

OK, you win that one. But why did you not just answer his question and tell him where the detectads package can be found instead of teaching him to fish in a reference that didn't even contain the info that he was after?

@OP, look for the detectads package in the list of installable packages. It's in CF/Package Management. Scroll down and install. then goto CF/Settings/Settings for detectads package
