What To Do with a Dead or Unwanted HDR-FOX, HD-FOX, or DTR-T1000/1010

2x HDR-FoxT2's, free for pickup near Plymouth or will post if postage paid in advance. Both with remote controls and custom firmware loaded. One with upgraded 2TB drive, one with original. Both are in good condition and were working fine when last used, one about two years ago, the other probably six years ago. Have moved to a Pi+TVHeadend+VideoReDo+Emby setup for recordings and can't see myself using the Humaxs again. No guarantees or returns, but will check that they still turn on and receive signal / display picture if any interest.
Many thanks for doing that. Would you be willing to pass on to me the 2TB one with a fully working remote (mine is broken)? I am south of Edinburgh, so I would need postage, unfortunately.
Anyone wanting these can forward a pre-paid postage label
Is this a forum rule, or a helpful suggestion?

The upgraded (2TB drive) Humax HDR has now gone. The other one still available..

The DTR-1000 is mentioned as a source of parts, except for the main board.

However, the main board appears to be a potential source of replacement I/O modules/connectors for the FOXes. Has anyone tried to reuse these parts, like the HDMI/ethernet connector, or particularly the tuner module (Antenna In-over-Out vertical style)?

An attempt to transplant a tuner can was unsuccessful, but that does not make it impossible (possibly the fault was in the tuner chips rather than the can). Connectors might be useful for adapters – I don't recall any reported faulty and in need of replacement.

I have a HDR-T2 with 1TB hard drive and remote free to anyone wants it for cost of postage or local pickup from Southampton UK

Note - A Capacitor on Motherboard has been replaced using info from post on this forum - but soldering is much to be desired. Having said that it does work.
Also on the remote the OK button does not function very often so we just used the web interface on the custom firmware.

PM if you want it and once its gone I will update this post.

I really must review my collection of unused machines. There's three in addition to the 2014 V2 original and its so-far unneeded hot-swap spare, plus a HDR2000T. None cost more than £12 and the 2000T was £3 with remote in a charity shop.

I bought one of these last week for €15, I have had more than 20 Foxsat HDRs and I am impressed with the HDR Fox T2. I convert downloaded files using AV2HDR to produce the sidecar files for my Foxsats, is there an equivalent program for the HDR Fox T2? or does it play other formats with no messing?

The HDR creates them IME. There's a list of formats it will play somewhere and I'm sure someone far more knowledgeable will expand on this.

FWIW I download from YT via Tartube and YT-dlp converted to MP4 720p on a Windows machine then play them over the network.

There's one niggle I have to sort out - it won't play MP4s that are encoded as yuv420p10le (little endian). Fortunately the HDR fails gracefully and responds to Stop and I've got a VLC profile that deals with it arrived at blindly. I really must see how to get them converted as part of the download post-processing.

The V2/REVised units seem to be pretty rare - I was lucky to find one on eBay when I bought my first. I wonder how many were produced compared to the V1/original.

FWIW the V2 will almost always claim 'No signal' after a soft reboot. Could this be linked to the issue 9200_fan has or is it the same on V1 units?
Aha it's not just my newly pulled out of the loft and pressed into service vertical tuners box that does the "No signal" after a soft reboot. I think with two reports we should assume they all do this until proven otherwise. My desire to avoid any more vertical tuners boxes is reinforced, fortunately they don't appear to be common. I never wanted one in the first place but when I bought my spare boxes in 2014 the Littlewoods "Grade B" in a white packaging box came as vertical tuners. Shortly after that I got a new never used box from Maplin for a third the price in their final sell off.

If anyone has working spare boxes within reasonable distance of Cambridge or Holmfirth I'd be willing to drive to pick one or two up since I'm now down to just one spare between 4 in use HDR Fox T2s (and I don't know whether it works or not...)

Agreed the 'No signal' is a bit of a pain but usually I remember to power cycle after a soft reboot. IIRC there's a pad or two marked RESET on the PCB and seeing if adding Reset push button works as anticipated has been on the list for some time.

I've not been able to resist buying HDRs when they've appeared up in local charity shops for £10-15 and the majority are the earlier twin-tuner version.
