Wi-Fi Query not connecting automatically to network on switch on.

I'm using a Edimax EW-7711USn dongle for network access, this works but will not automatically connect to the network on starting the Humax box.
I have to go to settings > network > wifi and 'apply' the settings (which are saved OK) every time the Humax box is switched on from standby.

Question is: Is this normal or not?
 
Then I believe the behaviour you are seeing has been reported previously. I suggest contacting Humax to make sure they are aware of theproblem.
 
Hiding the SSID adds nothing to wireless security being akin to taking the house number off your front door.
 
If you're running the modified software, you could try installing the wireless-helper package to see if that helps. It's designed to force the wireless to come up when just recording but should work in the general case too.
