A Personal Tale of Medical Ethics Etc

Indeed. In all honesty I think my mum is not far off the care home stage. I think that being able to make a cuppa seems quite a good gauge of ability, and thankfully she can still safely do that for herself. My sister used to work as a carer and so I'm willing to follow her advice about when the...

A Personal Tale of Medical Ethics Etc

So you'd rather that you never see your own friends again after going into a care home? Not for me. EDIT: ideally I'd rather see my old freinds, AND have new friends available

A Personal Tale of Medical Ethics Etc

I completely understand if you don't want to challenge this potential "fraud". But "J"'s money could be used to keep her in her own home, with some extra paid care provided by a care provider company (my mum is still in her own home with regular, paid, visits from a care agency). This seems like...

New feature request: bookmarks into the cut recording

OK - so in other words if the box crashes then a DLNA scan does not take place when the Humax is turned back on? I have not investigated this scenario. EDIT - but it does not affect the accuracy of my original statement. Turning the Humax off and on DOES produce a DLNA sweep at some point!

New feature request: bookmarks into the cut recording

One suggestion is to have a new log file "bookmarks_history.log" or similar. It could contain a single line for each recording that has been bookmarked by the WebIf/ ad detection etc. The format for the file could be single lines like this:- hmt +setbookmarks=XXX file.hmt ...then the user can...

New feature request: bookmarks into the cut recording

I timed the sweep by:- Create a recording that isn't indexed (one easy way to do this is by renaming a recording via the WebIf file browser) Trigger the sweep In the WebIf file browser repeatedly hit the "refresh" (browser button) while viewing the un-indexed file. The little green "indexed"...

A Personal Tale of Medical Ethics Etc

I can sympathise. My dad died from vascular dementia approx 5 years ago. And now my mum has dementia plus Alzheimer's. In the more advanced stages the person that you used to know is effectively "just gone" but the body remains. VERY sad indeed. I am a joint deputy (with my sister) via the OPG...

New feature request: bookmarks into the cut recording

A FULL DLNA sweep is triggered when:- The Humax has just finished recording a programme The user has just deleted a recording via the SUI Turn content sharing off and on in the settings Turn the Humax off and on ...there may be other events, but I doubt it The sweep can take around a couple of...

New feature request: bookmarks into the cut recording

I have an observation about disappearing bookmarks (ones that are set by the custom software). This particular issue isn't caused by file locking. Sorry if this is already known. If you are watching programme A, and then decide to change its bookmarks via the custom software, then pressing...

Changing a Recording's Date and Time settings

What an amazing insight! I for one would not respond to any change requests (to a non-essential utility) that are submitted with sarcasm. Please respect the people who contribute to this project for free.

Has development stopped? Is it possible to get hold of the source code and build instructions?

That's not strictly accurate, see this post. This experiment has not been "moulded" into a package yet. (There's a lot of work involved to make it flexible/ useful. So I don't know if it will ever reach release stage.)

Dedup series.info file from a Wikipedia episode list

The following perl script can be used to generate a series.info file from a Wikipedia style series list. This is the procedure I follow:- select and copy the section of text from the Wikipedia series list starting with the "Series <X>" title that is immediately before the episode list and down...

    Humble feature request

A different approach to removing old Simpsons programmes might be to use the "dedup" package. With the following "series.info" it will rename your programmes to S01-01, S01-02 up to S31-22. Then you can just sort the programme list alphabetically and easily select all the "S01-" episodes and...

TV turning on seemingly at random

It might be worth checking "Settings->Preferences->Time->Power On Timer" on your Humax.

    Amusing Items

Last night I was amused by a programme title that I came across while browsing the Humax guide (on the TV):- Killer women with pie Do these ruthless women lure their poor victims with the offer of a tasty pie? But when I navigated to the programme the full title turned out to be, "Killer women...
