Thanks for the warning, but I'm ditching my home cinema box and I have just the foxsat box and the tv, which has no optical input, so I don't have much choice.
I have my Foxsat connected to a Panasonic TV and a home cinema box. The picture comes from the Foxsat (the TV is Freeview, so doesn't receive anything directly), while the sound is played through the home cinema speakers.
I would like to remove the home cinema and play video and audio through...
Removing Custom Firmware
Overview
Remove Custom Firmware
To completely remove the custom firmware carry out the following:
Download the latest Humax Foxsat-HDR firmware from here.
The download instructions are also available, it is important to read these before continuing.
I used the...
Would someone kindly point me to whatever thread explains how to reinstate the standard firmware? I assume there is a post on this, but I can't find it.
This must have happened to others, but I can't find a pertinent existing thread.
Example: I recently tried to record Wallander from 31/05/2014, BBC 4. The EPG offered me the alternatives (SD and HD) and I selected SD (HD has a sound track which often doesn't include the actors' voices, but...
Sometimes I select a program to be recorded via the EPG on the FoxSat box and the result is an entry with the date 19/02 and the start and end times both at 3:14. I can see no obvious reason for this. When I set it manually I find I cannot set the recording mode to "Series", and using my PC or...
Ah, thank you. I had been vaguely under that impression at one time, but I lost my way among the posts. I usually don't have a need to copy files, so HD/SD doesn't matter to me, but my wife, who uses a YouView box in another room, wants me to put a particular series recorded in HD onto DVD. Tough!
I have CF 4.1.1. I have the browser software. I have no idea how to get a load of HD recordings from the Humax to my PC (so that I can put them on DVDs after formatting and editing). I have fiddled about with the files via my home network (wireless) and with copying to a USB stick. This has...
"As for encrypted channels in non-freesat you should have searched for free to air channels only. Sounds like you aren't using the channel editor properly. "
I thought I had searched for FTA channels. However, you are right to suggest that I am probably not using the editor properly. I'm...
Record HD without encryption
Directly copy recordings to your PC and watch them on other devices (like say a tablet)
Watch recordings on the hard disk on other kit remotely using one of the DLNA servers provided
You can control the box on any piece of kit that has a web browser
You can set up...
I installed the CF and now the Box seems to retain the recording schedule during a retune, which is all I wanted in the end. I did not notice any other change to the Box's functions, however. I see that I can read the EPG and the Schedule on my PC now, but I don't quite find a use for this.
I wish I had - I don't even have a memorable photograph.
I have quite a long schedule, though, since I record almost everything I'd like to see. I then watch it in my own time, and without the adverts. There may be around twenty items at any one time.
Cheers
Thank you all for your help. It all makes sense now. Retuning the whole lot is no big deal, and I certainly don't expect to retune very often, although it would be nice if one could backup the recording schedule and restore it after retuning. As it is I have learned to write it all down...
