I'm glad to say that all worked once I disconnected the YouView box. So it was the renegotiation issue, not a failure of the Humax.
Moving around the inputs seems to have cured the problem. Anyway, knowing what the issue is has helped me.
As you say, when I have time I will remove the YouView and check if it goes back to ok.
My TV does update itself from time to time. I can easily find out what version the TV is on, but can I tell when it was last updated? It's a 2016 Samsung, UE40KU6400 if I read the model number correctly.
What used to work (and obviously I will try it) is only having two boxes, Humax and DVD. But I want the third box, the TalkTalk Youview one.
I think just knowing that it is a negotiation issue is very helpful. And that the methods I have tried to get it to renegotiate are the right ones but...
I've gone to the latest custom firmware (the one a week or so ago, and then the later corrected version). But I suspect that it is related to the new box, might be cured by swapping HDMI connectors around. Hopefully it isn't"beginning of the end", that would be a great coincidence given that I...
From time to time my HDR Fox T2, connected to a Samsung 40-inch TV (can give exact model if needed) shows up with a green screen, and just pressing buttons doesn't bring up a proper program. I have so far got it working by a mix of turning the TV and the Fox on and off, (usually more than once)...
Definitely BBC 4 HD recordings were the issue. Sorry about being inaccurate in the first post.
Thanks for the remark that after the Olympics the change will not just be back to where it was. It looks as though there just won't be anything I want to watch on BBC4 until the Olympics are over, so...
I get "recording failed: the programme appears not to have been broadcast".
I've just double checked and all the failed programmes are on BBC 4 HD (I had misremembered one of them as being on BBC 2 HD). I now think that the issue is that BBC 4 HD is on a different channel than I had expected, I...
It's a bit difficult to test things, as the problem is rare. I had tried turning off the Homeplug (they are Devolo dLAN) and that did not work. It is possible that I did not have things turned off for long enough, and I might try waiting a while when it occurs again.
I should have said that I am using Homeplug. Powering the Humax off doesn't seem to help. The Humax does have a reserved address set on the router.
I am on the custom firmware. I am on 1.03.12 according to system information.
I've had a couple of problems with my HD-R Fox lately.
1. Occasionally there's no internet connection. I can see that the IP address is wrong (it has the self-assigned 169.254... address). Easy enough to cure by rebooting my router, but that's a touch drastic as it shuts off internet...
I would guess that my problem is with my router, but I still may get some help here.
Currently my HDR Fox-T2 is happily streaming a BBC program through the portal, so must be connected to the router and the outside world.
But (and this has happened on other occasions, and cleared up later)...
I tried to use the Portal today. All that happened was that the gear wheel went round and then disappeared, no portal window opened. I couldn't access any basic functions until I clciked on Exit, when I got a message "Humax portal has ended", though it never properly started.
Is there an issue...
I came home today from several weeks away to find the same problem. Rebooting the router did not solve it. I guess I'll just have to wait till it clears up.
What makes it more annoying is that I have the custom firmware, and had done a remote scheduling of some things I wanted to watch. But...
Thanks. I do have both Disable-OTA and Disable-DSO.
I have just installed rs and signed up. Something odd is happening, though. I don't know if I have omitted a step, if something is odd with my Humax, or what.
The remote scheduling web page seems to see my Humax OK. Specifically, the "last...
I am going on holiday for several weeks, and need to ensure that scheduled series record.
I have looked at a relevant thread and understand the problem and the various solutions.
However, I am not clear whether disable OTA, which I have set on my customised firmware, is enough to ensure that...
