Black Hole
May contain traces of nut
Just spotted Joe Public (sorry, Americanism!) on TV say "gambit" when they meant "gamut".

Armpit, you say? (Or is that arm hole, a term sometimes used around here to avoid saying the hole you sit on)Or perhaps they meant "ambit"?

I didn't know about that. An interesting item for AvP.
I spotted it immediately without knowingly reading it or being interested in the piece and rewound to make sure.Took me ages to spot the mistake!
A restaurateur in the Middle Ages was a medical assistant who would help ready patients for surgery. Soon these “restorers” became known for the special meat-based rich soup they would prepare to restore and fortify a person physically and spiritually. That restorative soup was called “restaurant.” It wasn’t until later that the place where those soups (and other healthy victuals) were served also became known as a restaurant. After the French Revolution of 1789, chefs who used to be in the service of aristocrats began opening public eating places serving all kinds of foods—not just healthy soups. That’s when the restaurant as we now know it by its current name and style began to take shape.
So, interestingly enough, the restaurateur came before the restaurant, and there was never an n to drop.
Exactly. So, interestingly enough, the restaurateur came before the restaurant, and there was never an n to drop.
Unlike the "h" dropping in hotel (John Thaw as Morse referring to an 'otel - yeuch! Whether it's right or wrong, it's 'orrible.)and there was never an n to drop.

Looks to me like the same series being transmitted twice, in different time-slots. The programme IDs are duplicated between two series IDs.Was that different series of Frank's programme?
Which would seem to be the point of the post being in AvP!However, no excuse for the missing apostrophe.
