Aura Android 14 update now

Mine upgraded yesterday and it seems to be the same as before, maybe a bit snappier as others have mentioned.

I am one of the few with a good one then generally behaves itself. I only use it as a PVR and SmartTube and Plex.

The only issue that has appeared is that when I use Apps I get the resolution window permanently in the top left corner. Usually I get it when I first start an app as it switches resolution, but now it stays there. The only way I can get it back to usual behaviour is to switch off at the mains and restart.

It doesn’t stay there on live TV
I thought the same about mine as I did not suffer from many of the past issues other owners had but in the last month the once in a while failed recordings have become a daily event. I only use mine as a PVR no Plex nothing ever transferred to it or from it and it not even on a network with Bluetooth and WiFi disabled strictly Ludite mode with the only exception being online via a cable.

I just looked at my recording schedule for tonight with 3 shows set for series record so I clicked the info button for each but 1 said no info available, I then went to the TV guide and cancelled and reinstated the series record for that show then back to my schedule list and it now has info for that show. I am pretty sure that just saved me from another failed recording.

Well I had a real bonus. Had very poor reception for years, suspected it wasn’t my aerial, although people said they thought it was. got off at the update, so downloaded it both power and reception on the Humax has shut up to 100% every channel and the signal is perfect and rock solid has been for days
My Aura has always suffered with pixellation due to the reception not being stable, every other item that can use the aerial feed does not suffer any issues.
After updating the Aura the problem still exists.

I get the same thing when watching movies via a USB and VLC, but not with Kodi

Watching films recently in VLC I occasionally had a banner stuck randomly in the screen corner it was a small grey box with resolution, I found a setting to turn it off in Aura settings under Video and Sound/AVI InfoFrame.
Restarting the film also cleared it.
I had turned off other info boxes possibly in VLC as I already had them on the TV and it got too busy with them competing.
So not 100% sure which setting finally cleared it but it did.

Interesting…

I noticed tonight that when I finished the program I was watching on Plex and watched something on SmartTube the box didn’t appear. Maybe because it was the same resolution so didn’t need to switch which is odd as it used to switch every time even if it was the same resolution as the previous program…. Strange

Have managed to stop the Source/ Display resolution banner popping up permanently on VLC content.
Freeview Button> Settings> Audio & Video> Display Notification> Off.

With the setting 'ON' it should only pop up for a few seconds, depending what is set in those particular preferences.
Don't know why it was being permanently displayed whilst using VLC.

Now I have to discover why this morning some files I am playing no longer have sound, whereas yesterday they were audible......

Blimey

I have seen output to the amp very occasionally show stereo input despite the audio in 5.1, stopping the player and restarting did not cure it.
It did stop possibly after restarting the Aura not 100%.
Its got to be tied up with the whole audio pass-through mixup.
I had an email this morning from the support guy saying that pass-through and NTFS issues have been passed on to the development team.
One can only hope.

When I lose audio on a codec I switch to the other VLC advanced /audio setting AudioTrack or OpenSL ES, the reason for parallel VLC installs, the second being nightly which does not overwrite the main one and is set up differently.
OpenSL ES has no pass-through setting which confused me allot but allows me to play AAC 5:1 as Dolby Digital + (Not ideal but better than silence).

I have just received a further reply from Humax support on the NTFS issue and Audio play back.
They are working on it and will give us a chance to try the update when complete.
I have attached the response as a text file to this post.
I just hope it gets things working better for us.
Have a read and see what you think.
Live TV recording is clearly another avenue that will need resolving for other members.

They are aiming to release the update to forum members first
Which forum could that be?

Thanks for sharing that information, hopefully we will see a resolution to these audio, USB media problems next week.
Hope hey are also looking into other areas of concern that I have raised also.

Readonly may be enough to mount the drive and allow VLC/KODI to take over the file management after.
And as you say you could play material after as before.
I did mention in my response after the mail that other members had serious Freeview recording issues to see if that could be reviewed too.
I am not sure how the update will be delivered to specific people , unless its a USB install.

When they were testing a fix for a previous problem, Humax asked for your Aura's serial number. Then they gave instructions on how to get your box to update. (IIRC that involved shutting down, booting, waiting a few minutes, shutting down and booting again - and probably some other jiggery-pockery).
