Can existing HD recordings be decrypted?

I've tried searching for an answer to the question in the title but all the results appear to be several years old, or for another Humax model.

The long story short is that I have some old HD recordings that I would like to preserve, and I want to understand what my options are.

1. Can existing HD recordings be decrypted?
2. Is it possible to get the encrypted recordings to play on another Humax device or are they tied to the specific unit*?
3. Could I use a HDMI capture device to capture the encrypted recordings?

*It's my understanding that the Foxsat has a built-in chip, that is responsible for the encryption. Therefore the recordings need that specific chip (or more to the point, the unique key it contains) in order to be decrypted.

I already have a Matrox MXO2 Rack MAX, which can capture via HDMI... So am I right in saying that the main issue would be the HDCP?

Nothing has changed. We know how to decrypt HDR-FOX and HD-FOX, we do not know how to decrypt anything else. Encrypted recordings are only playable on the actual machine that originally recorded them, and in some cases it is possible to trick it into exporting a decrypted copy.

Not strictly true. Not really relevant to this Freesat thread but the "Foxy" trick (patching the .hmt file to trick the Humax into allowing copy with decryption of HiDef) that works for the Freeview HD/HDR-Foxes also works for the 1800T/2000T. As for the 5000T, even I wouldn't want to use the method that exists to copy/decrypt HiDef on this - and I posted how to do it! See here

Yes. It seems your device can't cope with that, so you'd need a stripper upstream.
