By the way, Sky Sports F1 isn't available via the apps on the HDRT2, anyway. Although it is via Sky Go.

I have sky player on the Xbox & iPhone too so I can fall back on those if needed.
I was contemplating maybe getting a freesat box and tuning in to the free to air German channel.
We'll see how it goes when it starts proper.
 
Yeah, that's what I'm waiting for, for the season to start proper, see how the coverage is going to work in reality. I'm really interested to see what the BBC coverage is going to be like...
I changed my Sky Go slot over to the Hummy yesterday evening and originally looked for Sky Sports F1 under the heading of Sky Sports channels and found Sky Sports1-4 plus the Sky Sports News channel listed. Looked again more carefully this morning and although it still isn't listed in the Sky Sports channels section, it is in the TV Guide and, more importantly, works. Had a small panic as changing over the slot to the Hummy, I would have had to wait a month before I could change back to PC to watch F1!

Chris, if you have Sky Player on Xbox and iPhone, can't you change one of the slots to the Hummy, via 'change registered device'?
 
I mean I have the app, not that I have a paid account. :-(
£30 a month would just be a complete waste for us as we wouldn't watch anything.
 
I totally agree. The only thing and I mean the only thing I would watch is F1, and as you say £30.25 is a little too much to pay just for F1.
 
Ok, so been trawling these forums, but not getting definitive answer so please excuse if this is a n00b question, but should my Sky Go account work with one of the Sky Players in the custom portal?

Yes your sky go account will work fine with the sky player app but the humax will take one of the two allowable devices under your sky account. Also not all channels that are on Sky Go are available, Sky 1 Sky Living and ESPN are the more noticeable absentees.....
 
Ok, so if I remove one of my currently attached devices it should work then? Currently got two attached, happy to change the for allow "1 change per month", tried logging in originally, but no success...

Yes will work 100%, think you need to remove a device first then try logging in to the sky player on the humax.
 
Awesome, thanks for that, works well, can see as you said that sky1 is gone and as mentioned in the forum there's no on demand content working, quality is a little lower when I compare output from xbox 360 and humax, humax using a higher compressing ratio on the "high" setting than 360 causing some mpeg munging (swapped between AV inputs streaming same channel to check).
 
The only way we can play other streams through the portal is if there is an MP4 feed that can be tapped into, at a constant URL. With the iPlayer app, the BBC has a front end which can interpret the remote control button presses and send the required stream as a result.

So, anybody suggesting another feed is very welcome to do so, but first perhaps try to find the stream at an Internet URL that can be coded into the custom portal, and check that it is MP4.
 
Also isn't Eurosport player pay only? If so, its not going to happen.
You could ask Eurosport themselves if they have any plans to hook up with Humax..
 
We're looking for something that ends .mp4, which may itself be embedded within a web page (in your web browser, "view source" will give you the nuts and bolts).

Is Eurosport on Sky? If so, and if you can get a login from somewhere (all subscribers get a couple of logins, but not everybody uses them), the Sky Player is available on the custom portal - but only because there is a development front-end on the Humax servers that has never been released.
 
The reason I ask is because Eurosport player has just been made available (on subscription) as Multi-platform service - same login for Web, smart TV, iPad, iPhone apps. I know some Bluray players have Eurosport on their portals.

For the standard portal service the Humax servers mediate all transactions to the service providers. If Eurosport want to roll in Humax users something might be done if they offer the right incentive, but it is more likely they will target the new YouView box.
