Humax FHR-6000T Will this need its own listing in the forum? ( Now named the Aura EZ 4K Freely Recorder)

Future issue

My TV and HDMI chain does support Dolby Vision. Just not in 60Hz mode (too much bandwidth for 60 Hz 4:2:2 for my LG E6)

But because refresh rate of 24/25 can't be picked they'll be no Dolby Vision.

From experience of the shield only Kodi succeeds in simultaneously switching down resolution and then forcing Dolby Vision. For Netflix, Disney and Apple (if they arrive on Humax) the refresh has to be switched beforehand to be offered the DV stream.
But as above that's impossible because Humax haven't given us a proper 24, 25 or even 30 Hz option (which some believe it or not need if they're 60 Hz Dolby Vision native..was a Netflix trial with a detective vide to it)

TLDR, while on paper this box supports Dolby vision, in practice I don't think it will work.

HLG does trigger.

7 clicks on the various "about" and then OS build menu versions doesn't bring up developer mode.

The clock Easter egg does reveal if 5 clicks on the OS version.

So developer mode has been removed

I've now factory reset. Will be boxing this up to send back tomorrow.

Nice knowing you all :-). But without factory refresh rate support and removal of the virgin to allow manual selection this thing is basically unusable in UK if you think you might have need for both 50 Hz and 24 or even some of the 25 material out there

Lack of apps is a killer however. My 2016 LG TV has the Freeview Play, and more apps.

Ooo. Just a final thought as it'll matter to some.

The Ethernet cable per box is Cat5e. But actually it's Cat5e in the box.

Perhaps you should let Humax know your findings. May not achieve much, but if everyone who gets one, is dissatisfied and returns it tells Humax why things might improve sometime. (I wouldn't hold my breath, we are still waiting with the Freeview Aura).

Well now I know why the other side deleted the link here.

As a new arrival I came here with the idea to help where I can, learn things and have polite conversation with like minded people, that isn’t how it works here. I will not be returning.

We have members with robust opinions and "unique" ways of expressing themselves, myself not excluded. What we don't tolerate is people being too thin skinned, taking offence where there really is no need.

"How it works here" is proper debate with essentially no holds barred, provided it doesn't get personal. No one opinion is allowed to be accepted as indisputable truth, opinions are kicked around until truth emerges. This is entirely different than The Other Place, where one person's "truths" had to be taken as gospel.

If you can't cope with that, perhaps you don't belong in the kitchen, but there's no need to jump ship just because you don't like how any particular member posts. You could, for example, set them on your 'ignore' list and filter them out.

All newcomers really should read this: Newbies' Guide to the Forum (click).

I thought I would stay long enough to see what happened and see if it was worth giving this place another chance.

Your comment and Likes by others shows me it’s probably not.

I have nothing against debate but how after some debate do you not call the last comments to Owen and me "personal"? At what point do personal insults become personal enough to be dealt with?

I have read (at least some) of the guide and maybe

Above all else, this forum in particular is very genteel compared with other forums, and we (the community) expect a decent standard of behaviour. Look through the posts and you will find little in the way of bad language, flaming, insults and derogatory comments, etc. Sometimes the occasional argument breaks out, as it will between people of contrary opinions, but you will also find the arguments (mainly) conducted in a seemly and erudite manner.

Should be replaced with

As the first paragraph is far from the truth and new comers need to know really what this forum is like, and it’s certainly not “genteel”.

I have never on any forum needed to ignore anyone and have no idea how that works.

It works terribly so I never use it. What happens is you don't see any posts by the person you have ignored. But you do see other people's replies to their postings including quotes of what they said, so it can get quite confusing.

Click on the user's name at the header of the message. At the bottom of the pop up click ignore. From then on all that user's messages will be filtered out. You will get a message sometimes telling you that there are some ignored messages in the thread.
The problem with doing this with one of the long-established members is that you may miss out on one of their useful and constructive posts. (There are some! :D ). Also see Owen's post #217.

Thanks for the input even if it does seem that the EZ is proving to be just as much a disappointment as expected. Maybe see you on a Manhattan forum in the future.

Thanks for helping to get this thread back on topic.

No need for thanks, I have taken the ignore option so hopefully the matter has been resolved now and we can return to being all fluffy bunnies and rainbows in the wonderland that is hummy.tv ;)

Well I have found out what I needed to know, the FHR-6000T is currently a piece of junk and I shall let this thread get back on topic, throwing personal insults at anyone who disagrees with a long term member.

Yes. I'll be doing it via Richer Sounds. I think they'll be able to understand and articulate via their management that selling a box targeted at "Freely", which I understand is a UK venture, but that cannot support 50Hz properly is basically dead in the water before it's even out of the blocks.

The auto options i mentioned are the default. So buyers will get a 50 in 60 Hz mess by default

You've obviously not spent any time on the seedier forums, where slanging matches and flaming are de rigueur. This is not one of those.

Nor is it genteel by any stretch of the imagination. That first paragraph that Dave480 is highlighting is a long way from the reality on hummy.tv.

Sold out already!
If it's as bad as the (one) review on here says there's going to be a big refurbished stock soon!
