[redring] Show red LED ring when recording in standby + other options...

Yes i have red ring installed :) - We do try to leave the box on if we go out when its recording but its not always something you remember to do at the time.

Redring will have a log (you may need to turn on debug) that will tell you if the box was turned off during a recording, look for 'still recording'

Code:
[RR] Thu Jul 19 16:57:50 2012: Ring trying to go amber.
[RR] Thu Jul 19 16:57:50 2012: Still recording.

Yeah i have just looked back through the logs and it appears she did turn off the box weds evening 2 minutes before the Olympics was due to finish recording. This must have caused the box to fail every recording scheduled for thurs night until it was powered on again when i got back from the pub. What i need is a package that will stop the box from being switched off lol but in all seriousness until this is fixed i will try and leave it always on.

I'm sure af123 will fix it properly very soon so what follows isnt really needed - but what if the box could be programmed to do an on/off cycle a couple of times a day if its in standby? This would limit impact on scheduled recordings if the box is switched off during a recording.

I think the problem with your suggestion is that the thing that is stopping the box waking up if placed into stand-by while recording, would also stop the box waking up to perform the new programmed on/of cycle, when in this state, the only thing that wakes the box is the remote control

Bit of a strange one, last night I placed the HDR in stand-by while recording having already checked that there were no scheduled recordings from stand-by in the list. However I have just checked the RR log and it did unexpectedly wake up at 4:30 for the OTA search ! ! !

Code:
[RR] Sat Aug 4 01:47:07 2012: Ring trying to go amber.

Another stand-by while recording this time with SetWakeup 0 0 0 0 and no wake-up, but sometimes SetWakeup 0 0 0 0 does allow wake-up, so there is obviously more to this.

[Note no 4:30 OTA search or a later test record from standby]

Are people still having issues with RR? I;ve had a few failed / missing recordings, am disabling RR in the mean time and seeing if it makes a difference..

There is just one problem as far as I know, If you place the Humax in standby while it is recording e.g. centre ring Red or Purple then the Humax will not wake up to record from standby, however it will still wake-up with the Remote control and then act as normal

I'm still trying to work out why the box doesn't wake up when put into standby during recording. Whatever it is, it's subtle - I'm dropping into Humax-like fix timescales!

I use 5 mins padding with channel 5 as AR would clip the start of recordings. Since turning off AR the box now occasionally fails to wake from standby. Seems to be ok if box not in standby. When it fails to wake the program is automatically rescheduled for the evening repeat, but again this may fail to record? I also use Redring.

I have found a work around for this problem, If you use the Remote Control 'Sleep' button to automatically place the Humax in stand-by a few Minutes after the current recording is completed, then the Humax will wake from stand-by for the next recording as normal

I have a new version of redring running on my box which I believe to be fixed. It's been running for a few days now and I haven't been able to make it fail to wake up. I'll do some more tidying up and upload it as a test version so that it can have some more widespread testing before I put it in the repository.

I have installed this on one of my boxes, and will put it on the other one when it has finished recording.

First overnight test passed, placed in standby while recording then correctly woke at 4:30 for OTA search and again to record from standby. Looking good :)
EDIT : Second test passed, despite some strange settings. Obviously part of the 'Magic' Jan 6th !!!
Code:
[RR] Tue Sep 11 09:40:06 2012: !> SetClock(0x3) 50 4f 06 f6
[RR] Tue Sep 11 09:40:06 2012: [ Fri Jan 6 13:26:59 2012 ] ( 1325856419 )
EDIT : Third Test also passed, so it looks like it's working for me :) - af123 Thanks for all the effort you have put into this, Much appreciated
