[sysmon] System Monitoring

Just using sysmon for the first time. Only just turned the Hummy on and it's reporting a temp of 120. That can't be right. Is in in Fahrenheit or Celsius?

As you may be aware this is not a factory 1TB machine. The same HDD is fitted to my Topfield and that reports a temp of about 40-45 degrees C.

Sent from my iPhone 4s using Tapatalk

At the moment sysmon only works on Humax fitted Hard Disk Drives, as other models report temperature differently see #16 of this thread, af123 is aware of this

Nope, no good for me. Shows my fan is full on (and it hasn't even been on at all yet), and a HDD temp of 85.

Here is a snapshot of the results taken a moment ago using the command: smartctl -a /dev/sda, from a Telnet session. (Sorry I don't know how to format the text correctly for easier reading):

So I can 'see' where the 85 comes from...

Give it a few minutes or remove the /mod/monitor/monitor.db file to get rid of the old broken data.

Posts crossed. I have removed the db file...

edit: Guess I will have to wait for a refresh as I now get an error when clicking the smartmon icon.

edit, edit: FIXED. Looking good af123, pretty flat line now at about 50 as expected. Thanks...

I like the Quarter speeds for the fan in the new web-if 0.9.6-5, However I think they only apply as the curve is going down e.g. the fan starts at full speed and slows before stopping, the fan will have to start at full because although it will run at a quarter speed it won't start at a quarter

Now that sysmon is available to install via Package Management, is there any point to installing it on a HD-Fox in the future?
Are there things, other than HDD temperature, that can be monitored?

Yes, I'm going to add monitoring for other things when I get time (starting with CPU load) - not sure how useful it will be but people like to see what their box is doing!

It would be of more interest to see that, when it is processing the tasks we ask of it. I look forward to it.

I haven't managed to read any data from a USB hard disk drive yet, I get USB Bridge error but it may be possible. There are other thing that could be displayed as single pieces of data from sysmontools like number of disk read / write errors etc. but the three that spring to mind are Line 9 RAW = the number of hours the hard disk has been running, in my case over 3600 which I'm not proud of, it's far too high, Line 12 RAW Power Cycle count = 1623 and Line 194 WORSE = 56 which effectivly shows if the fan has ever failed as it shows the Highest Temerature that the Hard Disk has ever got up to in it's life

EDIT
Power Cycle count is not as useful a I thought because of all the times the unit turns itself on, e.g. my count is 1623 over 469 days

I installed sysmon, and I get an orange rectangle with

load_source: TypeError: Error #1010

centred in it.

Could you post the results requested in #16 of this thread
