Amusing Items

Post 538 onwards, it's a simple enough conversation if you don't skip bits! No, I didn't post the 570 solution, it being blindingly obvious.

I was reading some replies to a message sent by a local bus company (part of route not served due to badly parked cars). At the end, after discussion of who can tow cars:
cats left in bus stops get towed by the council, not the police

Unless they have been clamped and need to lifted onto the pound truck (or lorry if you prefer).

When you see signs at the side of the road that say "Cats eyes removed", is that a cheaper alternative for the council than towing or clamping?
And what did they do with the apostrophes? Give them to the grocer's?

I am quite happy with apostrophes not being used if it does not result in an unfortunate ambiguity of meaning.

A few years ago an extensive set of roadworks not too far from us had a large roadsign that read "Cat's eyes removed. Mice very happy." Good to see that officialdom can have a sense of humour sometimes!

I've seen similar on other channels and never noticed the language they are warning about. Must be something we oldies don't find offensive. Sometimes there's a warning and the sound dips over the words they are warning about.

My cheap electric oven still works but the top heating element (oven+grill) is warping badly (oven element only). I thought I'd research replacement elements - just in case.
Along the way I found it listed on Amazon under

How do you program a couple of bent metal rods?
As it is a remote control - can I change channel on my Humax by adjusting the temperature?

I don't use Amazon very often. Might be over ten years since I last used them. Are they always as bad at putting items in the correct category?

Amazon provides a market place for third party sellers (it's not all Amazon stuff being sold direct from their own warehouses). No doubt those sellers are entirely responsible for listing and categorising their wares, same as on eBay.

Just musing: the product details they are required to fill in to list the item might well depend on the category they have chosen. Perhaps a slip of the mouse, or a misunderstanding of the language, resulted in the erroneous product category, and therefore a stupid question like "max number of supported devices"!

You and I would look at that and say "WTF?", but some pressed paid-by-the-click farm slave probably doesn't care.

Your link doesn't take me to the product, and a quick skim didn't find it.
