Amusing Items

Post 538 onwards, it's a simple enough conversation if you don't skip bits! No, I didn't post the 570 solution, it being blindingly obvious.

I was reading some replies to a message sent by a local bus company (part of route not served due to badly parked cars). At the end, after discussion of who can tow cars:
cats left in bus stops get towed by the council, not the police

Unless they have been clamped and need to lifted onto the pound truck (or lorry if you prefer).

When you see signs at the side of the road that say "Cats eyes removed", is that a cheaper alternative for the council than towing or clamping?
And what did they do with the apostrophes? Give them to the grocer's?

I am quite happy with apostrophes not being used if it does not result in an unfortunate ambiguity of meaning.

A few years ago an extensive set of roadworks not too far from us had a large roadsign that read "Cat's eyes removed. Mice very happy." Good to see that officialdom can have a sense of humour sometimes!
