Assume v. Presume

Poop or just a bunch of fossils who can only cope with reality?

Or do some try to escape from reality by watching nonsense like that? There are other ways, but using the "supernatural" is just an unsatisfactory cop out.

who can only cope with reality?
That raises an interesting line of thought. Given the current 'discussions' in the western world regarding false news and alternative facts, who can actually be said to be coping with reality at all? Clearly POTUS isn't :)

... and 50% of the UK. (Which half depends on which way you voted of course :) )
As I understand it only 37.4% of registered voters voted to leave, 34.7% remain -> 27.9% bothered to register but didn't bother to vote. Then there are those who didn't register or weren't eligible to vote. Taking all that into acount, up to 73% of the total population might be having problems coping with reality. I am! :oops:It won't take a genius to work out my view based on this spin!:(

Trump. Not really POTUS more like DTRYTUS (D-TRY-TUS, detritus).
Unfortunately, America voted for him. Another reason I'm having difficulty with reality! :o_O:

No no no no no, you can't say that  . People who didn't vote, for whatever reason, abstained. You can't theorize plausibly that they might have all voted one way and that the result is therefore wrong. Doing so basically invalidates every poll, and makes most statistics a meaningless jumble (yes, I know some people think that already) since the concept of a representative sample could not exist.

And here's a thought no-one seems to air - perhaps those that don't vote in our various democratic polls simply look at the choices and think "Well, I don't know. The options all seem equally good/bad to me." Time there was a box labelled "Don't know" for us to X ? :)

.. up to 73% ... might ...spin!
Only suggesting more that 50% of total population might be having a reality check. You missed another illogical part of the above - 27% is the number of leave voters as a percentage of the total population - giving 73% having problems with reality. What, even babies? I did put "spin" in the reply to give a clue...
Time there was a box labelled "Don't know" for us to X.
And make voting mandatory.

The don't know party would win every time.

My 80% in the USA was just the figure showing those who profess to having a religious tendency, by the way. By definition, that is a lack of a link with reality. It may be higher if you add in psychotics, drug addicts, etc.

It's more like 100% have trouble with reality since most of our civilisation is based on mental concepts rather than physical things. Like currency.
(Yes, I've just been reading a book about it :) )

up to 73% of the total population might be having problems coping with reality.
And a similar number (I can't be bothered to work it out, or even base it on false assumptions) might be ecstatic with the outcome (but probably the actual figure is a bit less than this).

Frankly, I think when a vote is to keep or not keep the status quo, then the winning line for not keeping the status quo should be: 50%+1 of the entire number eligible to vote; or two-thirds of all who voted (one or the other, or maybe either). Having a winning line of 50%+1 of all those who actually turned out to vote and didn't spoil their papers, when the turn-out could have been just one Brexiter, when really "they" just wanted to keep the status quo, was imbecilic.

Something I totally agree with. You might get some flak from MikeSh though :D.
This could have been put in the referendum act. My GUESS is that people wanting to leave the EU were motivated to vote. There isn't much motivation to vote for the status quo.

There isn't much motivation to vote for the status quo.
Then that's their fault. Perhaps they even believed all the doom and gloom blatant lies that the remainers were peddling and thought how could anyone possibly vote for this disaster. Fortunately, enough people saw through their lies and voted for exit despite the lies. Had they not pedalled so much negativity, that has subsequently proved not to be true, the vote for exit would have been far more conclusive. Project fear lost. Get used to it!

Then that's their fault. ... Get used to it!
There is no doubt the remain campaign was dreadful. I may not like the result, but I am used to it.
As for the rest of your comments: pot-kettle-black! That damned bus and £350m/week for NHS. Project ball cocks.
