Just for the record ...
It's not about fonts, but about character encoding and the correct interpretation thereof. On the Foxsat, channel 713 is "BBC RnGàid". In the channel data that the WebIf has available to it (/dev/mtd6), the channel name appears as follows:
In this data, the "à" is represented as a double-byte character 0xC161. At first glance, this would appear to be ISO/IEC 6937 encoding (which would make sense, as that's the default for DVB-S SI tables).
Way back when the Foxsat CF development was being done, there were no station names with accented characters. All appearances, at the time, were that the channel names in the mtd6 data were ASCII encoded. There was no evidence to the contrary. Now we know that this is not the case of course, and for both the channel name and channel icon display, for this one particular channel, the WebIf does not function in a way which would be considered "correct" (the channel image is defaulted and the name is not displayed correctly).
Is it
worth fixing though? Probably not. The WebIf still works, it's just not "right" for this one channel. And considering the ever dwindling user base, would the effort be justified? Probably not.
Would I
like to fix it? I'd love to have the time - but I don't at the moment. I also don't have an operational and/or up-to-date Foxsat since we've moved to a house without a dish - which would make developing and testing a fix somewhat awkward.
Thanks to
@David500 today for providing me with the information from an up-to-date system so that I could investigate.
