Redring - development and beta testing.

Yes, I think some simpler system would be in order for the settings page. As far as I can tell, there are 255 levels and you can create quite a nice pulsing effect if you're prepared to keep sending a stream of commands to the panel..
Perhaps doing away with the slider and entering the number in a text box.

Edit: I would have thought that if you could divide the 255 levels into 10 approximately equally spaced levels, then the user could select a brightness from 1 to 10.

Dual recording test finished, see results in post #250 apart from not going Red when the first recording started, the rest of the test was successful.

I will now install 0.99-3 and try more testing later.

Edit: I have installed 0.99-3 and will see how it copes with the 4:30 am scheduled event.

Running 0.99-3 the box seemed normal when powered up at 7:10 am this morning.

I have set some more test recordings starting with a staggered dual recording, at 7:45 am and 7:50 am.

At 7:29 am the Orange ring went Blue
At 7:44 am webif shows the first recording has started although the REC icon has not come on and the ring is still Blue
At 7:54 am webif shows the second recording has started although the REC icon has still not come on and the ring is still Blue
At 8:07 am webif shows the second recording has finished although the REC icon is still not on the ring has gone Red
At 8:13 am webif shows the first recording has finished and the ring has gone Blue then Orange

At 8:20 am I brought the box out of standby and this seemed normal complete with START SYSTEM on display.

I managed to capture the humaxtv.log just before webif contact was lost.

Code:
>>> Contents of /var/log/humaxtv.log 1.13 KiB

Redring: initialising v1.00rc3

        changing to red.

        recording 2
        changing to purple.
Redring: recording end 23.
        changing to red.
Redring: REC icon off.
        system is in standby.
        changing to dim blue.
Redring: recording end 19.
Redring: power-off dim detected.
        inhibiting.

So there still seems to be some issues.

Not to be too disheartened, I have set another test scenario featuring three recordings

9:00 am - 9:25 am
9:20 am - 9:55 am
9:30 am - 10:30 am

so I am expecting Orange > Blue > Red > Purple > Red > Purple > Red > Blue > Orange :D

I will update this post as things happen.

Edit: At 8:44 am Orange ring has gone Blue
Edit: At 9:00 am First recording has started, REC icon has come on, and Blue ring has gone Red
Edit: At 9:20 am Second recording has started, REC icon is still on, and Red ring has gone Purple
Edit: At 9:25 am First recording has finished, REC icon is still on, and Purple ring has gone Red
Edit: At 9:31 am Third recording has started, REC icon is still on, and Red ring has gone Purple
Edit: At 9:54 am Second recording has finished, REC icon is still on, and Purple ring has gone Red
Edit: At 10:29 am Third recording has finished, REC icon has gone off, and Red ring has gone Blue, then Orange

Here is my humaxtv.log which looks OK

Edit: At 10:40 Box brought out of standby, seemed normal with START SYSTEM on display.

So this second test seems to have worked properly:) , I'm not sure what went wrong in the first test though.

Hi AF, just thought I'd let you know after I installed 0.99-2 last night, my box didn't run the 04:30hrs update, and it failed to switch on at 07:00hrs this morning and also failed to switch to BBC1 at 09:00hrs.

I will now see if 0.99-3 will work any better.

Successfully installed 0.99-3 this morning and, touch wood, all seems fine so far. Perhaps when I tried to install 0.99-2 last night it had already been replaced by 0.9-3? Still trying to find hummytv.log? I would love to be a 'fly on the wall' watching af123 in action.

The log files are viewable on the WebIF diagnostics page.

Perhaps AF can set up a web cam, like they have in the Radio 4 studio. (lol)

humaxtv.log can be viewed via the web interface, select "Diagnostics" and you should find humaxtv.log listed under "View Log Files", just click on it.

This is first place I looked - only logs are rs, epgd, modinit, rag, rsvsync and xinit
Try rebooting your box, making sure you leave it in standby long enough for the HDD to stop, and you should have a humaxtv.log as it seems to be created each time that the box is booted.

Tried 'cold' boot. No change - no humaxtv.log. Web if version is 0.9.3-4 - is this latest?
Don't wish to hijack this thread on this problem - I will search other threads.
Thank you Brian for your input.

Thanks xyz - did as above, fingers crossed, and humaxtv.log now present (don't have a clue what I was doing)
Blind Faith!

Try the following from a telnet prompt:
Code:
touch /var/lib/humaxtv/mod/debugtv
then reboot.
Is this only for the HDR-FOX T2? I have Telnetted this code in and rebooted but I do not see the humaxtv log file.

OBSERVATION: I have found you need to place the Humax in standby at least 20Min.s before record from standby is due to start, If less time is allowed you don’t always get standby amber, Instead you get standby blue which does not change when recording starts and things get out of sequence e.g. record stop time is not actioned

I don't see any reason why it shouldn't work on both machines. Did you cut & paste it or type it in? If the latter perhaps there was a typo.

I don't think it was a typo. I did it twice with no result, but copy & pasting your code has worked. Thank you.

Having created the Humaxtv.log file, I have no idea what it all means.

Code:
>>> Contents of /var/log/humaxtv.log 355.00 bytes
[P_STV6417_VCRbypass_Mode_Off] already VCR bypass off
