[redring] Show red LED ring when recording in standby + other options...

The Redring package was updated to ver 2.12 on the 19th. May, are the problems with redring stopping on the 26th. being seen with version 2.12? I regularly filter my redring.log into another file for archive and then delete the original, I wonder if the problem is very large redring.log files, what size are the failing log files?

I didn't know the size of the logfile was a concern. I've installed redring on my parents and aunts boxes, which might get attention about annually if that. My aunt's box doesn't even have an internet connection unless I take my iPad with personal hotspot.

However my observation of it staying blue when it show go orange in standby is on machines where redring had only been installed for a couple of days so the log size shouldn't have been an issue.

The size the the Redding.log file doesn't appear to be the problem for Mihaid, so it probably isn't a concern, It was just a thought that, if clearing the log fixed the problem, then it may suggest that large log file may be the cause

It looks as though there are 3 people at least with redring log not working. Does someone have a list of redring packages versions?

I have two T2s with the latest custom firmware/web interface. On one of them, redring.log is 24.5k and hasn't been updated since 27 May. The other one is 56k and correctly logs the most recent recording last night.

Mine are static at 0kb. I cleared them some time ago, but I cannot remember when, and obviously haven't being written to since.

It is weird, are they running exactly the same packages?

It is obvious that something has gone wrong, but I don't have the knowledge to investigate further.
I have installed older rs1.0.7 and the new log is blank.
I have also installed redring 2.11 and the new log is blank.
These logs just don't work anymore.

I was curious , yours works, what is the total sum in MB of the various logs on the diagnostic page under view log files?
Is there a way to copy any of these log files to my computer?

Mine is around 11.8MB, had to do again, had to be careful not confusing KB with bytes
Could the other guys with logs not working do the same?

There isn't a problem with overall space for the logs, the current total of all log files in /mod/tmp is about 10MB but It has been much higher.
It is possible to FTP the log files to a P.C. but you will need to FTP to /mod/tmp (the normal FTP server only gives access to /Media/

So what else is amiss? Who are the specialists in this?
The logs stopping around 26,27 may point to something, but what?

You could try this :- Web-if >> diagnostics >> Utilities >> fix-flash-packages >> Run Diagnostic

The author of the majority of the Custom Firmware including redring is af123

I thought they were, but a check showed that the machine with the functional redring.log was actually still on version 2.22 of the custom firmware, whereas the one with the non-updating file was on 2.23. Otherwise, the Webif and packages were identical.

I've now updated the first T2 to 2.23 and will keep an eye out to see if it makes any difference to redring logging.
