It would be fantastic if the grid style EPG option could be incorporated into the 'standard' WebIF.
True.. I'll need to convert the MySQL/PHP bits to C/JIM but at least the HTML/CSS/JS should be portable : )

Edit: If you update to 0.7.2 then I've implemented it at http://humax/xepg.shtml but it takes almost a minute to render (most of the time is sorting the data ready for display) : (

Liking this A LOT. Not sure about the progress bar being dark green over the blue text though, but I do like the progress display idea. I thought the previous style of progress bar worked well in terms of standing out with a specific bar with a white background . I like to see what is already running because if I've missed it this time round I can click on the item and get the alternative showings listed, so if there is a rerun somewhere else I can still record it. That's something that makes the web versions stand out for me over what the box standard EPG does.

Hang on what am I thinking - what we need is a little pie chart showing progress! You can't have a Hummy screen without a pie chart :) Plus it would fit in most listings (even short ones) because it's round and not long and we all love pie charts don't we? Don't we? Anyone? No? OK just me then! Wibble!

On the Topfield's MyStuff EPG, the current time line is shown by a descending translucent thin yellow line from the top to the bottom of the page on the current time line. I find that works well as it not intrusive but can clearly be seen. Personally, it looks better than the aforementioned green on blue model.

Sorry to keep mentioning MyStuff, but it really is what could be considered to be in a 'mature' state having evolved over time.

BTW, oijonesey, I love pie's too! Especially Chicken and Mushroom

af123: How about having a setting on both webif & rs for which channels to show in the epg?
This would cut down on the loading & calc time aswell as making it easier to navigate.

The Zingzing TV Guide - which I find excellent - uses a similar device. Works well, IMO.

The landscape format is great but not sure it lends itself to the browser format due to how scrolling works. Better for touch screens.

I guess loading times could be cut down by reducing the amount of data loaded by having preferences you can edit or loading on the fly as the user jumps a couple of hours forward?!

Webif already has that feature via a favourites list. RS doesn't have the same speed problem, the EPG renders very quickly. It only shows the channels you have configured on your box. Maybe the favourites list thing should be extended to RS too...

That's quite hard to implement in HTML/CSS... : ( but I agree it would look good.

The green bars are progress through the event so aren't always in sync. A lighter shade may be better!

How about the way it looks now? Not everything is completely properly aligned just at the moment, but otherwise...

Deep fill chicken and gravy?

Oh yes very nice - one of Mrs Tweedy's finest (Wallace you know what I'm talking about:)). Just tried it on the iphone and even without zooming in I can read it all in landscape. Top work af123, thanks again.

Just had a look on Firefox and it doesn't seem to be filling in the progress shading - I get the yellow time line OK but the programs currently on are not colouring in blue

Oh OK - however it did it quite nicely on the iphone so I thought I'd mention it. I knew they called 'em smartphones but doing stuff they're not meant to? Now that is smart! ;)
