[webif] Web interface

WOW. Even more great work has occured while I was on holiday! The web interface is really coming along well. The backup/restore feature is very useful. I've just used it because the box forgets all your schedualled recordings after you rescan for channels but now I can put them all straight back!

I'd love to be able to set up recordings when away from the house, that I think would really complete the package for me. Is there a way to set the hummy up as a VPN server? The hummy is the only thing on my home network that will always be on. Or is there a better way of doing it? I've never had cause to use VPN before so am new to it all.

I have plans for this as a feature but I'm still working out some of the details. I'll be looking for beta testers in due course though :)

In the meantime, there is test support for scheduling from the web interface but it requires the box to be rebooted fairly quickly afterwards so that the entries are picked up and not purged by the software. However, it is working well for me and I find it easier to find and schedule things from the web interface than the on-screen EPG.

Could you perhaps create a set of schedule changes which are held pending, and then when you click "commit" they get applied and immediately reboot?

Yes, that would certainly improve the situation, thanks for the idea.

Could anybody help me with email? If I want to use my gmail account as the smtp how do I add this into the settings? All the smtp I can find need authentication?

Thanks again in advance.

P.s. Thanks for fixing the pie chart.

Jon

You should be able to use gmail-smtp-in.l.google.com as your email server. Since you're sending to a valid gmail address, you don't need to authenticate (just as anyone else on the Internet wishing to send you email does not need to).

The only issue might be that Google's spam filters could block the messages, but you won't know until you try.

af123,

Sorry, another disk pie-chart bug (webif 0.6.3). I have my laptop drive mounted by a script in the init.d dir and that's the one now showing up in the pie chart usage!!

EPG Feature Request : Would it be possible to add information in the programme details somewhere to display any dates that the particular programme is repeated (if it is repeated) ?

Version 0.6.3 adds this. The alternate viewing times are clickable so that you can load the other events. I've also made the CRID line clickable so you can skip straight to the search screen with the events showing in a list.

Yes, thanks, try 0.6.3-1 - how many configurations are people using
I might do this a different way, although I suspect it's there now.

Great improvement. Am I missing something here? You can't actually set a scheduled recording via the web interface yet? It just says disabled for testing only.

Thanks, I missed that. But I have VERY little knowledge of Linux and do not know how to create directories etc. I can, however, when using PuTTy get to the Humax command prompt so its only a case of typing something in. I just don't know how to!

If it were MSDOS, that would be different! lol.

I don't believe I've just done it! AND it works!

Using FileZilla I FTP'ed into the Humax, then went to the /mod directory. No .schedule.testing file existed (of course). I simply copied one of the other files (.epgkeyword) over to my desktop and renamed it .schedule.testing. I then copied the new file back to the /mod directory.

I did look at the contents of .epgkeyword file and it seemed empty so I thought I would use it.

I know that's completely the wrong way about it, but it does seemed to have worked. Well, it's let me set a recording. Now lets see if it does record!

Good luck. It isn't turned on by default because it is very much a testing feature.. Having said that, as long a you rebooted after scheduling the recording and another recording, reminder, wake-up or sleep event is due to trigger before the recording you scheduled, then it should work. It will be more elegant in due course.

Yep, the web interface prompted me to reboot so I did so (via the webif button). The Hummy was already on at the scheduled time anyway but the programme is being recorded as I write this so something has worked!

Thanks, that looks great.

Unfortunately, the EPG single channel view appears to have stopped working. It gets stuck on loading EPG data (I have tried it on MSIE and Firefox).

Oh yes. That could be a problem with the new mongoose version since it works from the command line. I'll look into it.
